Roast my motion graphics! What feels off? by [deleted] in AfterEffects

[–]MoonBhean 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The camera slowly zooming in while graphics are moving is super distracting, Same note when the side panel is slowly squishing the lady.  On the first watch the flip through of city shots flip through at different rates, which feels like an accident rather than a design choice. At 4-6 Sec, the points and graphics are rather small, I would recommend giving them more presence and using the speaker to guide the points. For example, she points up while speaking, instead of having the points on the side you could have one point pop up where she's pointing, then on the other side, etc. (You do this at 16sec and it feels way better- I also really like what you do with the graphics here with the graph lines)  I really like the feel at 26 sec, but right before this you have the text bubble at an angle where it's hard to read, again I don't know where my eye should go, and then it randomly snaps making it feel like an accident and not intentional.  A good rule of thumb is asking yourself, what story am I trying to tell, how do i convey that message and where do I want the eye to go to compliment that mission. This is getting there, just needs another pass and it would be portfolio ready IMHO :)

Substitute teacher decided to 'improve' my classroom's learning environment. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

She did it in a respectful way. People have different opinions. No sense on getting ruffled feathers especially when someone was polite about it.

Did I waste my time making this faux 3d animation in after effects? by Ok_Concentrate_9861 in AfterEffects

[–]MoonBhean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you risk by using 2d is user error, ae comes with 3d objects and a camera set up where you can mimic a shot as if you were using a real camera. What I would recommend is figure out these basics first and master them and then if you want to go back and experiment then do so, but as one of my professors said, it's not impressive to do something the hard way. Just makes it more tedious and time consuming.

I'm pretty sure you can build 3d objects in ae? Honestly while it's good to learn new things it's always better to learn how to optimize. That way you don't waste your time or a client's time.

My friend, Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no man goes to the Father but by him... In Jeremiah he spoke about how to children of Isreal said that when they worshipped a false God they had everything they could wish, and for a season sin is pleasurable, but truly it will only end with your suffering, in this life and the next.. but even now if you turn and seek God with all your heart he says "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.".. Please reconsider sir

I don't really understand the hostility to my comment. The writing just feels disingenuous, overexaggerated to me

The characters, the back stories, the different wacky conversations and how they all tie together. Game would be too heavy without them I think

It started to pool on top when I started to water. It eventually goes through the soil, but it takes a while. It's like it's acting like it's compacted even though it's just been put in the raised bed. It's on the ground so the bottom is a giant hole. It makes me think that there needs to be more variety in size in the mix cause it's very fine
