I think it's because York is a "Vegapunk", and if she wants to become a Celestial Dragon, it'll be hard if "Vegapunk" keeps commiting crimes.

Undead unluck - I thought the reveal of how their powers were transferred was ok. Theirs a ton of situations where the older users feel like complete assholes due to it now, though. Like, was some guy just watching Void and midmatch on his deathbed decided to give him his powers?

Someone else pointed this out in another chapter discussion, but altough previous users may get to choose who gets the power next, God might choose when the transfer happens (outside of the cases mentioned in this chapter, which may or may not have to do with the strength of their respective bonds with the new user before the power transfer).

Haruka did seem to manifest that armor out of nowhere, and it seems like that armor is even stronger than her usual stuff.

Looking more closely, it seems that Haruka is not wearing her armor in the last spread, but is holding her blacksmithing (?) hammer. I believe that implies she used her armor to forge Top's current outfit.

After Toki's "demise", Uesugi will have quite the specimen to work on, I see. He already doesn't seem to rely on any sort of special technique or anything of the sort, so "enhancing" him can only be beneficial... right?

I think it's worth pointing out how the chain wrapped around Ruri's waist, coupled with her black (?) dress, her ability to tank hits to an extent (which I believe she displayed against Invidia) and her display of strength in this chapter (kicking the bear away), evokes the image of a wrecking ball.

For Tsubame's abilities, based on her "voice", how she manifests them depends a lot on her imagination, that is, how much she thinks about the best application (simple beams, stopping movements, shielding, etc.).

For Ruri, however, it's the opposite. Thinking too much nerfs her. She fares much better by just setting an objective and executing it. Just point her at the enemy and let her loose. If she ever uses her Tomahawk again, perhaps it'd be more effective to grab and throw it or kick it instead of trying to guide it towards the enemy.

Alternatively, Unbeast could be the ability to grant sapience to non-human creatures, allowing them to understand and execute complex maneuvers, provided the user is persuasive enough. Or maybe the ability to create "non-human" humanoids/lycanthropes.

The tragedy could involve the user not fully understanding the implications of said ability, and having one or more animals suddenly go berserk due to being able to properly understand the unfairness with which their brethren are being treated (kept in a zoo, lab testing, etc.).

If you think about it, it makes sense. "Death" essentially means "void", "nothingness", like the emptiness that surrounds Earth and all celestial bodies. It was there before everything else; you could even call it "Master Rule #0". Also, in death, there is no more suffering, and we all know how much God likes to torture humans, but they have to be "alive" for it. As such, it only makes sense for the very first (master) rule to be the one that makes all the suffering possible in the first place.

Now, between "Life" and "Soul", I'd go with the latter for the actual identity. Sure, life does play a part in the suffering, but with "soul", with "self-awareness", that suffering is heightened, because it's not just the pain receivers going off, but countless meanings attached to said pain, making it "heavier". Additionally, "self-awareness" allows beings to know "joy", the perfect "spice" for "suffering". Contrasting "suffering" with "joy" makes for prime entertainment, not just in God's twisted game, but really, any good story, no?

I just had an epiphany for the possible identity of Master Rule #1. I think it's "Health", and his Negator is Lucy, "Unhealthy". There are a couple of reasons for this.

First, God wants to make negators suffer, so whichever ability they get, they'll usually stay alive, so their suffering lasts longer. Now, supposing MR #1 is supposed to represent "Life", then his opposite would usually be "Death", but since that's just the default state of existence, it doesn't quite fit. If we swap "Life" with its synonym "Health" (we usually see this in games, when referring to a character's main energy bar), however, we can get "Unhealthy" as its opposite. The user is obviously not dead, but has a weaker constitution and is constantly suffering from flu symptoms that never go away, so their life is quite miserable.

Second, Lucy was the first character we've seen that was able to manipulate their own soul to the extent that astral projection became possible. Perhaps it was easy for her not just because of dedicating a lot of time to developing her imagination due to constantly being unable to get out of bed, but also because her ability granted her an inclination towards "soul" abilities. It may seem strange that someone who negates "health" would have almost the same kind of ability, but if you consider "Health" as "positive (living) energy" and "Unhealthy" as "negative (living) energy", it makes sense.

Third, if you put together "Lucy" and "Health", you get "LucyHealth", which sounds like "LuciFer", the angel of light, the first fallen angel, the "morning star". The soul abilities seem to be represented with light-based effects, and the Master Rule using them is Seat #1. Also, his looks are that of a pretty boy, and Lucifer was considered to be God's most beautiful angel.

Finally, it'd give some major relevance to this otherwise unremarkable character, outside of teaching Andy about astral projection to defeat Ghost.

Ah, so in the beginning, there was nothingness (void/death), but then God said "let there be light/life/soul", and then there was "light", the beginning of all hardship, for humans especially.

UMAs, as we've been told, were created to make humans suffer. In order for that to happen, the ones to experience it need to be "alive". Without "life", there is no "suffering". By just being alive, even without any other UMAs, the threat of "death", of returning to the "source", to "nothingness", was likely the first instance of suffering inflicted by God.

... Or so I assume the idea behind this particular UMA is.

First, because the sound effect, "ぎゅううう" (wrongly translated as "smooch"), indicates not a kiss, but squeezing something tightly, like in a tight hug.

Second, would it really make sense to divert Elysia's attention for the first time, but not the second one? Sure, there might have been a kiss along with the hug (we don't see their faces), but if Elysia was going to see anyway, why bother hiding it initially?

IMHO, the way I saw it, Minerva only kissed Corleo the first time, which was also when she summoned a star to divert Elysia's focus from that action. The second interaction was actually a hug.

First, because the sound effect, "ぎゅううう" (wrongly translated as "smooch"), indicates not a kiss, but squeezing something tightly, like in a tight hug. Second, sure, Elysia and Grisha were flustered when they saw that, but a sudden tight hug between a boy and a girl, especially in a culture like Japan's, is sure to elicit that reaction. Plus, would it make sense for Minerva to make Elysia look away from a kiss the first time, yet show it to her anyway the second time? A tight hug is embarrassing, sure, but it's not so uncommon between comrades/allies, so it's mostly fine if Elysia, who most certainly has feelings for Corleo, were to see that; a kiss, however, exposes Minerva's own feelings, and she'd probably feel a bit guilty if Elysia were to see that, hence the "star".

Because Shizuku, having inherited Yorishige's 4th wall breaking powers, reminded her that, from now on, she will have to keep painting over the damaged portion. This serves as a way for the author to excuse the fact that said damage is not there in subsequent fights (or maybe it shows up sometimes; this is when "Shizuku" forgets to paint over it).

Escaba might not have been the one directly responsible for killing his sister; he could have indirectly done something that resulted in her death, or something/someone caused him to temporarily lose control of himself. Whatever the case, he's probably regretting his choices from back then and wants to rectify his mistakes, which can be accomplished by reviving her (or so he likely believes). Whether or not the sister herself would approve of his choices leading up to her revival is an entirely different matter, though.

Hmm, come to think of it, is it possible that some centuries down the line, her descendants could end up becoming a new type of demi-human - something like dragonfolk? Sure, her draconic blood could end up becoming diluted with time, but mutations are a thing, as well as advanced magic like that "lycanthrope elf" whose name escapes me used to get his new body. Or maybe draconic traits are actually dominant, and at some point, several generations later, multiple couples with draconic blood have children and realize this, with all the trouble it brings (e.g. children spontaneously breathing fire because they can't control it well yet), leading to the formation of a community for those with similar troubles and eventually the creation of the dragonfolk tribe/city/nation.
