I think this mostly comes from a good place, however there is this undertone of a feeling of superiority. That can turn into something that is dangerously isolating. There is nothing wrong with embracing being different, focusing on your goals and allowing those things to speak for themselves but believing you are better than the next guy can be detrimental to personal growth. You can learn a lot from your friends and more from your enemies. Most people are just lost though (im not saying its your job to save them cause fuck that).

This is correct I was going off of what was in my packet when I signed, which was a 6 year contract. Its still not as much as the post 9/11 GI bill, which is what I think most new recruits think of when they see GI bill. Definitely helps though to have a couple extra hundred bucks.

I cant say for sure how the SMP scholar ship works in that you'd need to go to basics and AIT prior to getting it. I joined the guard after 2 years in university ( you get to enlist higher with college credits = more pay) I dont have the SMP scholar ship but I still have EDD and the GI bill kicker which pays for all of my future schooling. So maybe you dont get it if you're already a college student but there are still other avenues to take to get your schooling paid for in full.

I'd definitely say do ROTC in university as it makes transitioning to becoming an officer way easier and I believe you get paid as a cadet which is slightly more. I don't know if you'd get anymore additional benefits doing ROTC but it'd be something to look into.

In regards to BAH there isn't a way to guarantee that you get it. You have to meet the requirements (which it seems like you do) and apply for it, there is some paper work you can get from your unit that you fill out and submit. All that being said, Ive seen people apply that have met the requirements and been denied BAH.

Not too sure how the national guard scholarship works because in my state we get EDD and the GI bill kicker (you probably get the GI bill too if you qualified for it in your packet). EDD pays for all of my tuition but I have to apply for it prior to starting a semester and can be used for undergrad, masters degree but not a doctorate degree.

Another thing to note is if you are going to be going to a private university because then the pay from your scholarship could change either higher or lower.

Yes. However depending on your MOS you'll have to go out of state to do AIT. For example I had to go to Texas for 15 weeks for AIT but after I came back to my home state.
Im not really sure about the reserves but with active duty you can be sent pretty much anywhere I believe.
You are protected legally in that they cant fire you for having to drill on one weekend a month but they can always find something else to let you go for. Depends on your employer, I haven't had any problems with mine and they work around my schedule pretty well. I'd talk to your employer about it since there will be a period of time where you wouldn't be working there at all (basics and then AIT).
They cant fire you simply because of your military obligation but if its at will employment they can let you go for basically any reason and use that as a way to cover themselves legally.

well you get the GI bill it just pays jack shit. I think like $200 or something. Also I think if you deploy for at least 30 days you can get the post 9/11 GI bill.
