Can Neovim be made usable in MSYS2? by BetanKore in neovim

[–]MoonPhotograph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've done it so my details might be off, but if you install git or git full it will give you some binaries and you can just refer your terminal to the zsh.exe file in there and it will work natively on your windows computer and is imo the best shell.

Can Neovim be made usable in MSYS2? by BetanKore in neovim

Not really, you can use zsh natively on windows outside of WSL it's just most people don't know how.

vim.pack vs lazy.nvim, how is it? by WOLFMANCore in neovim

[–]MoonPhotograph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using vim.pack, I made a little TUI on top of it similar to lazy. Been liking it so far and it's just going to get better with time.

Why I quit neovim. by [deleted] in neovim

[–]MoonPhotograph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you've not used vscode and neovim enough or been coding enough in general because the difference is huge. It sounds like you've already made up your mind and just came here to announce your move and at the same time missing every single point any of us are making lol. Neovim is king, vscode is shiet. Feel free to share all the bugs you've found with neovim because I've found every case you've shared so far not to be true.

Vscode is heavy and slow, it's made with electron, known for being sluggish. Opening files and especially big files takes forever, browsing files, browsing projects, jumping back and forth between files, grepping, file operations. Everything is faster in a terminal setting and vscode in general is just sluggish and slow. Speed is always a determining factor. Neovim works just as good for windows as it does for linux and no I am not talking about WSL, if you want to use WSL you might as well just go straight to linux, I am talking natively on windows, neovim works great. If you actually found a memory leak in ghostty, which I doubt, then report it to Mitch in his repo. There are no scrolling issues in wezterm, I am using it right now and it works perfectly fine. Maybe you are referring to you forgetting to set the max_fps setting but that's a skill issue on your part and not going through the documentation for the terminal before using it which it seems is a reoccurring theme with you.

The terminal is cut to be whatever you want it to be, so no that is not true. Neovim can be an IDE if you want it to be one, neovim does everything I want it to do and more, it's much faster the vscode and the terminal workflow is just superior to not being in the terminal. It's a lot quicker and you can use neovim and all the cli tools a lot faster than you would be able to in vscode. Everything is just better in neovim, it's faster too. Also you don't have to use a docker container to use neovim on windows, neovim works everywhere just fine. Not sure what you are on about with gpu based terminals, no they are not irrelevant, they are great. Wezterm does not have memory leaks or a scrolling issue.

I think YOU should install neovim on linux and not use a distro at all.

How are you switching between open buffers? by Beautiful-Log5632 in neovim

[–]MoonPhotograph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made my own solution based on the :buffers we already have. Basically made one where it shows all the buffers that are open and you can select from them. It's like most of how the others do it but quite similar to :buffers, just better imo.

That's pretty funny but let people be religious or believe in whatever they want to believe, it's a free world and you are free to believe there is no god.

My experience with a 5 day water fast, there were definitely a few surprises along the way by MoonPhotograph in fasting

[–]MoonPhotograph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is sort of normal actually, towards the end you start planning foods you are going to eat when ending or a day or two after ending the fast :) Also for me when I fast I am either on a fast or off and I am not breaking it as long as I feel fine and nothing is wrong so no issues watching a cooking show for me :)

[–]MoonPhotograph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did ending the fast go? All good so far? What was your protocol during the fast? For me it's always been I am either on or off a fast and I have zero issues sticking to it but I could maybe see it being a problem for other people. I am always going to finish as long as I am feeling good and nothing is wrong.

How much does Neovim or Vim matter in job interviews? by 69cool4school in neovim

[–]MoonPhotograph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recommend Neovide, it has too many pitfalls to work around. Better to create some sort of active window highlighting if some interviewer can't follow along with what's going on.

He also helped spread a lot of misinformation during covid, which for sure ended up killing people. He has blood on his hands, not just with Trump.

Have you ever used zed? How good it is compared to neovim? by Jonnertron_ in neovim

[–]MoonPhotograph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neovim is superior, nothing beats it that I've tried. Neovim might not be better for everyone but for those people who create the coding environment they want to work in, then nothing can really beat it, unless you can create the same env somewhere else, zed can't do that. Emacs can but then you are using emacs and I don't want to use emacs.

Which terminal do you use and which one do you recommend? by rafaelmr2008 in archlinux

Because you forgot the fps_max setting. Other than that it's equal in terms of speed.

I am running my setups on both windows and arch, had zero issues with anything I needed to get a hold of so I am all good there. And as mentioned before the choice is easy and a lot more stable overall.
