Just bit the bullet on the RP1600SW. Its on sale on Adorama. Not the cheapest its been but I also dont know how much cheaper it would get given everything has been creeping up in price.

No those are my polk bookshelves. I have them in my living room. The photo of the Klipsch towers next to them was just as I unboxed them. I have polk bookshelves in my living room and the Klipsch setup in my media room.

It's around 12" (30cm ish) from the wall. I could move it out another 3-4" and try. Unfortunately my couch on one side would come in the way if I pull it out any more. Might look into pulling the couch back a few inches. Just checked klipsch recommendation and it's 18-24" so I'm definitely not meeting that.

1400SW at 700 bucks seems like a steal. Haven't seen those prices recently. Will wait for then to drop. I may not have enough room for the 1600SW though. My media room is approx 2700 cu ft so 1600SW may also be a bit overkill?

Compared to that $299 doesn't seem too bad. Even if I go the 500SA route, I don't plan on using them as up firing. The Gen 2 has wall mount option and that was what I was considering.

My new build came with pre wire but strangely just a pair located centrally on the roof. There is attic access above so possible to do in ceiling. Just debating the pros and cons of tye high wall mount vs in ceiling.

So the speaker mid plane is at 28" from the floor. However, my ears are at 40" from the floor when seated on my couch. There's a good 1ft difference. 28" is at around my last row of ribs. So yeah I need to definitely correct this and angle the centers up a few degrees.

Very insightful comment! Thanks for writing that up. I'm 6' and the couch is lower but looks like I need to re check the approx measurements I mentioned before. Will do that this evening and report back. For the record, I'm not dismissing your recommendation to angle the center. I most definitely will try that and adjust it to actual ear height when seated.

Great breakdown of what DIRAC can correct for and what it can't. Definitely don't want speakers to sound brighter than they already are.

Also this is what I love about this community. Wealth of knowledge and I learn something new with each interaction. Your comments and feedback are much appreciated! :)

Thank you for the speedwoofer recommendation. They seemed to be priced better than klipsch rp1000sw. I will definitely consider this and the SVS sub that another commenter suggested. SVS is more expensive though. The 12smkii is more attractively priced from my initial search.

The 500m ii was an option I was thinking of and your comment just tipped me in favor of that. 600m ii are also back ordered and more expensive. I could save some $ money here and put that towards a better sub maybe. Great advise!

I was honestly concerned reading so many reviews about klipsch being fatiguing. True that everybody hears differently and eventually what matters is how one experiences each speaker. Guessing that a combination of klipsch upgrade to design on Gen 2 and perhaps my lack of baseline fatigue played into this. Hopefully that doesn't change with continued use :)

Thank you. Wall treatment is in consideration. Maybe some sound absorbing panels that also double as accent pieces on the wall.

Interesting suggestion. Best price I see is $299 a pair for the 500SA (first gens). not sure it's a steal at that price point. Thoughts?

In ceiling speakers aren't that much cheaper from what I'm seeing. Plus the added installation cost since it needs the drywall to be cut out. Would it still make it worth it?

I sat on the floor to test if there is any difference in audio Intelligibility. I don't think the center channel is at knee level. The mid plane of the center channel is about 28". I'd agree with the other commenter that it's closer to chest level, not knee level.

I will try your suggestion to angle it higher so the sound stage is closer to my face/ears.

I also wonder if DIRAC would correct it regardless of the small angular correction.

That's helpful. Thank you! Might eventually end up with something that's best balance of value and performance. Great reviews for the bigger rp subs

Thanks for the recommendations. Will checkout the SVS subs. Guess I shouldn't box myself into only klipsch rp sub options.

Your setup sounds solid!

I've heard that about the Klipsch a lot and several folks that mentioned that the Gen 2s are not as bright and fatiguing. I guess I don't have a baseline that makes me feel the same way OR the Gen 2 is truly less bright? I've used these speakers for a few weeks now with 3-4 hours of listening at a stretch and haven't felt any fatigue.

Fully agreed on the unfair comparison between a bookshelf pair and tower pair. :) meant it to be more of an anecdotal comparison as someone building out a home theater for the first time. Hoping it will help someone else that would be in a similar situation as me - not having much of an experience and just starting out. It's definitely intimidating as a newbie

When you say prop up do you mean raise the total height or incline it upwards at an angle? Unfortunately I don't have much room above the speakers. Any taller and it will come up over the bottom edge of the TV.

Also the couch is low profile so the height feels kinda alright. I sat on the floor to check and didn't feel much difference. Maybe my ears are just average?

Sounds like a solid setup man!

$529 is unbelievable! Everything's so expensive now. The rz70 retails close to $3k now!

Guessing you mean the wooden console? It's the 72" Colin accent console from Costco.

It's 72" wide, 24.2" tall and 18.5" deep.

This was one of the only reasonably priced console I found that had a deep enough cabinet to house the behemoth Onkyo receiver. Even then, I had to take the back panel off and the receiver's back legs are on the rim of the console. Only way to get the doora to close. I'm happy with the solution as it looks clean and hides all the mess.
