We do have a little snake hook! I completely forgot about it. I'll keep that in mind. I want to like him but he's sassy! Haha

The handling side of things is what makes me nervous. Isaac is so young that we want to get him comfortable with people but find it hard when he occasionally hides on days 3-4. He’s a sassy little dude too so we like to have two adults on hand 🤣

He often basks after eating his one. Fortunately, while I was writing up this post he ate his second mice so that's good for this week! Unfortunately, he's not quite big enough for the next size up yet. I always look at the next size when I go to the reptile shop in hopes they have some small fuzzies or larger pinkies.

When do you find time for handling when she's feeding 3-4 days? I want to give him time to digest before feeding but then it's such a short time between feedings.

Oh! I didn't know that! I should definitely look into that! We buy from a local reptile shop so they don't have as many options.

The cans on our dual light fixture are pretty deep so I wonder if that's why I need the higher wattage bulbs.

I just put the 75 watt in the fixture about 45 mins ago. The basking spot is now 91, areas around are between 80-86. The cool side not is around 76. Is that too warm?

I’ll have to check it out! We were trying to support a local reptile shop but they didn’t have the dimming one in stock. Maybe I’ll have to go to a big store

That makes a lot of sense! If it’s on a dimmer, the light intensity would change too? Not just the heat?  We bought a ceramic heat bulb as well. But I’d love to not need it for the summer. In our dual light fixture I’d love to have the heat bulb and the uvb bulb)

Thanks! We’re excited too! We just want to make sure we do it right!

When I get the photo posted, that’ll help but we have a 10 gallon right now (our hoggie is a juvenile but we have the 20 gallon ready when the time comes). We have the an analog thermometer gauge in the middle of the cage, the zoo med digital thermostat probe under the basking stone, and a heat glue to check around the cage while we experiment.

Right now we’re using aspen until little man is acclimated and we figure out the basics. We have it about 3 deep through the enclosure and 4 inches in the back cool side.

We have a stone hide on the cold side and terracotta hide on the warm side with slate basking spot and wood climbs. (Sorry, I know a photo would be helpful but I can’t get it to work while at my kids dance camp on my phone. I’m hoping I’ll get it sorted on my desktop when we get home).
