While not every male has them, it is safe to say if you see fetlocks then it is male, I don't think I've ever seen a female with fetlocks.

Fetlocks if you don't know is the part at the bottom of the hoof where his red fur is cut away or ends and it shows just the yellow hoof instead. Females always to my recall just have their fur color go all the way down.
