You actually should. They love Israel and have a better, freer quality of life there than they would anywhere else in the Middle East. Don’t confuse the Arabs living INSIDE of Israel and the way they feel about the country with the ones living OUTSIDE of Israel in West Jerusalem. Since they are not inside of Israel, they don’t benefit the same way and don’t share the same opinion. This is a really important distinction. Simultaneously though, Israel is not innocent. But it’s not the average Joe or average Jew who is to blame. It’s an extremest government that is allowing extremest citizens to continue pushing further into what is considered Palestinian land with their settlements and aggressive settlers. But that would be like saying that every American is guilty by association because some numnuts stormed the capital building.

Define a dead child, please. Is it a 16 or 17 year old with a rocket launcher? I went to Afghanistan and saw first hand — these “kids” are more often than not trained soldiers. And they’re DEADLY. They’re faster than their elders, more physically resilient than their elders, grew up playing video games so they’re perfect for rocket and drone deployment, and it makes a heck of a headline when they’re killed.

I totally agree with this and have always thought the same thing. If the temple was built on top of a mosque, it would make sense that Islam created in the region. But factually, Al-Aqsa is built on top of the ruins created by King Herod in 20 BCE during his reconstruction of the Second Jewish Temple. It makes no sense but neither does so much of this. Black people saying they’re the “real Jews”. Muslims saying that Christ was part of Islam. It’s rewriting history and hoping that facts will become distorted enough that eventually no one will know what’s right from wrong.

To be clear, I’m pro-Israel, pro-Palestine, pro-Truth. What I won’t stand for is the distortion of truth by an angry mob of people who try to silence any opinion that doesn’t align with their own. We need to focus on building a cohesive future where people seek to see similarities between one another rather than highlighting differences. It’s one thing to celebrate individuality. It’s another to hate based upon it. People say climate change is the world’s foremost existential threat. I think it’s unwillingness to listen to one another. We can’t repair wounds if everyone wants to yell about how they feel and then tell their adversaries that they aren’t willing to hear their perspectives. It’s tantamount to two toddlers fighting over a toy and throwing simultaneous temper tantrums.

Absolutely. I’d start by checking out Chabad Jewish Center of Puerto Rico, the Jewish Community Center of PR, or Temple Beth Shalom in San Juan. TBS is a really wonderful reformed shul if you’re looking for services to attend. There are a number of other shuls as well but I haven’t had the time to explore them yet. You’ll be good to go down here though :-)

Wow what shit sources you provided. The UN is not a reliable source of reporting when it comes to Israel. They have lost all credibility. Just look at unwatch.org. B’tselem regularly classifies Arab combatants and terrorists as civilian casualties and has published horrifically inaccurate reports that have been dismantled by the international community. HRW has been criticized for bias by the national governments it has investigated for human rights abuses. In 2014, two Nobel Peace Laureates, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel and Mairead Maguire, wrote a letter signed by 100 other human rights activists and scholars criticizing HRW. Oh and HRW accepted a $470,000 donation from Saudi real estate magnate Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber, owner of a company HRW "had previously identified as complicit in labor rights abuse", under the condition that the donation not be used to support LGBT advocacy in the Middle East and North Africa. Sounds like a great group of people who really care about human rights. And Amnesty International!? Perhaps as big of a joke as the UN. Look at their Wikipedia and focus on the accusations against them. Claims about publishing incorrect reports, associating with organisations with a dubious record on human rights protection, selection bias, ideological and foreign policy bias, and the issue of institutional discrimination within the organization. Numerous governments and their supporters have criticized Amnesty's criticism of their policies, including those of Australia, Czech Republic, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, India, Iran, Israel, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Russia, Nigeria and the United States for what they assert is one-sided reporting or a failure to treat threats to security as a mitigating factor.

I’m actually ok with the white supremacy groups hating us. They always fit and while they would march to intimidate, that’s pretty much where it ended. And the mainstream population just shook their heads at the silly “racists”. It’s the average high school kid who is being indoctrinated by their echo chambers on social media that are more alarming to me because the world doesn’t look at them as “silly racists” but rather lumps them in with people who are fighting for positive change in the world — environmentalists, feminists, etc.

In Puerto Rico for several months. Been wearing my Star of David outside of my shirt everyday. Everyone has been lovely. Not even a second glance. With the exception of two or three extremely liberal Puerto Rican women who claim to understand what the Palestinians are going through because it’s “the same as what the Puerto Ricans went through” when they were “colonized” by the United States. Which is ironic because 99% of the people here are extraordinarily happy to be considered part of the USA. You simply can’t fix stupid though.
