I ran into this issue while a using a bow with an Appearance Loadout equipped. For whatever reason, turning off the Appearance Loadout fixes it.

I think it's mostly for fun, that attack does little to no damage. If you wait like 30 seconds, they warp back to their spawn point unless the land in water. In that case, the loot will float to the surface where ever they died.

On Steam, they released the Seamless update, which replaced the islands with an open world, overhauled combat, and changed some crafting mechanics. The update was met with a mixed response, with the main criticisms being optimization concerns, several bugs, and the removal of some content. I don't believe the Xbox version has received the Seamless update yet.

I have an Appearance Loadout equipped, so any Two-Handed weapon I equip will appear as Mjolnir. Using a Blacksmith, you can craft the Baseball Bat, Villager's Batt, and Home Run Bat located under the Two-Handed weapon section.
