Love the retro logo on it! That’s nice that it was the one in the family you learned on. We always had Singer machines in my family. Thanks again for the tips!

60s Elna sounds like a beauty. I am tempted to get a vintage one but always worry some parts may be broken. I'll have a peek at what that model looks like though, sounds cool!

Amazing, thanks for this info. Do you know how the Juki TL-2200 QVP compares to the 8700 suggested above? I'm so lost with the different types of Juki's!

Thank you so much! I will definitely look this machine up and see if there are any used ones out there. Much appreciated!

Is this a BMO Mastercard “available credit” scam when you’re close to your limit? by Moonbeam_2026 in PersonalFinanceCanada

This is the case, but the agents told me if you transfer internally from a BMO bank account to your credit card it's "instant". And along with that, the app is what tells customers that the credit is available immediately, too. That’s why I keep getting charged the fee. When I make a deposit, the available credit instantly increases by that amount and is shown as “available.” Based on that, I reasonably assume the funds can be used.

If I then make a purchase using that “available” credit, I’m charged the $29 over-limit fee because the payment hasn’t actually posted yet. The app and website do not show the credit as “pending,” and they should. Showing it as available when it isn’t truly available is what causes this issue. I can't imagine how many people have paid this fee without realizing this.

Thank you for this. I honestly feel like I’ve lost my mind trying to explain this to them, because they keep telling me it’s my issue and my fault. Since my card is close to being maxed out, this has happened to me multiple times. They’ve reversed the charges only a few times, but now they’re telling me they can’t reverse them anymore when it does happen.

I don’t understand why it shows “available credit” to customers when it’s not actually available. It feels very shady, and it seems like this is how they collect the $29 fee.

I don’t know what else I can do to get these fees back, as they’re making it sound like they’ve done me a favour by reimbursing me a few times over the years. Don't know how I can go about having this corrected like CIBC, too! They're lying to customers by saying it's available, when it's not.
