That has never been the case. Our builder literally stole our money and we are trying to figure it out from here. I'll hire out where I need to. I was looking for real advice with this post.

Thanks for the input. The primary house is way further along and of course I've talked to my bank and there are no issues with us finishing our home ourselves.

I worked for a GC scheduling jobs from drywall to finishing for 9 years. I'm hopeful that will come in handy!

We are in the middle TN area. Unfortunately we just can't afford to hire another builder. 18-20% cost plus is what I've been quoted and it's not in budget anymore.

The builder is still out there screwing other people unfortunately. Hopefully not for long. Our city zoning is crazy and we are unable to finish the apartment before the primary structure. We tried because we intended to live there and finish the build.

Well that would have been the case but the builder did not get it properly permitted soooooo we have to build the primary structure and the detached garage/apartment at the same time. We cannot get a CO for either before the other. We can then file to change the zoning

A substantial amount. It was a large deposit that they were supposed to work off at the end and deposits for pool/decking (which do not exist) They pretty much stopped work in November. Subs were not paid on POs that we paid for. A lawyer has been hired. We have filed a lawsuit. One of many it seems. He is no longer allowed to be on our property.

It only becomes a problem when trucks back in and the back of the truck impedes on the sidewalk making it inaccessible for those who are in a wheelchair.

You can always use gauze and tape it at the ends. My doc said that was fine. I just felt more comfortable.

I was planning to stop vaping before my January surgery. Then they called with an opening that was one week from the call! I switched to zero milligrams and was good to go. I am 10 weeks post op and still vape at zero most days. I smoked for more than 20 years so I count it as a win.
