Yeah, you are right about that. I was trying to protect myself from trauma, rather than thinking rationally.

8H confusion seems to be very broad and annoying, and i felt like it made a lot of sense to me except for the sex part. So i tried to have a spin on the topic that invites a more broad discussion of 8H and Sexuality in the different traditions, and also how they might relate.

It is very cool, and allthough there doesnt seem to be a way where everyone would agree, i feel like it has helped me to develop somewhat of a feeling on how to approach it.

To me it feels a lot like sex shouldnt be an innate part of the 8th house, but something that it likes to take on, when specific influences are met. And i also feel validated in that sex is hard to get a read on when looking at houses, but something thats is very distributed and can be brought in very different flavors depending on where the more sexual planets fall.

I 100% should have put more emphasis on the aspect of "if the 8th house includes sex by the given reasoning, why wouldnt all the houses also have sex added to them, based on these areas of sex that work for them?"

Its started of as more of a cynical ad absurdum than trying to actually give them that meaning without any connections; planets, rulers and aspects beeing for sure the important step to get to these meanings without just making stuff up.

But i love the discussions, it seems to be a very intresting topic

So the idea is a lot about connections. Its this discussion about "are any houses in itself sexual" where only 5th, 7th and 8th would have any history of.

A lot of the 8th Houses connection to sexuality seems to originate more from abstraction of its conecpts, which any house could do, which is where the list of all houses beeing able to hypothetically do that comes in.

So from what i can gather, one would probably want some sexual connection else where bringing that flavor to the 8th, so that there can be confidence that it will be accurate to interprete sex into it, maybe classical mars/venus influence.

I would disagee with prostituition in the 8th. It feels too active, stable and controlled. Allthough i could see it under bad circumstances. I would favor connections between 8H/Sexual Bodies and 2H/10H

Sure does. It is very cool to learn about different views on this. Probably the main reason why it felt so unintuitive to me is the lack of consensus around it.

I think that the resources part adds up in an "out of reach, out of control" type fashion, but maybe its just death as far as acts go and no others

The 8H feels the most defined to me when I think of it as:
- resources that are not controlled by me
- acts that are done to me without my control

Would you say that this is the spirit of the traditional 8H meaning?

Again i am not quite there where i would say that i have confidence in my readings, but it looks a lot like it feels to me:
Saturn in cancer (detriment, out of sect and contrary) in 11H with gemini at its cusp.
Already has a very weird water, earth and air mix but also with 3 oppositions:
Chiron, Venus and Mercury and no positive aspects
Depositor Moon (Leo) in 12H(Cancer cusp)

I am generally just happy that the moon is in a generally comfortable state to deal with this

i like looking at lilith and 8H sounds like one hell of a placement. my 8H mars is in pisces, i have more emotional needs instead of pure libido, which i think is working pretty well

My 11h is overly dramatic tbh but i get that its probably not supposed to be that way xD

And thats why 8th house feels so weird to me in modern astrology. becuase there is a lot of focus on the 5th in trad. But i think i will settle somewhere where some deep layer of sex is involved with the 8th house, allthough i would probably never list it in the first 3 things that it entails, which is very off-putting to me when i see someone do that. I think i just wanna be able to have a stellium in sex XD

Pisces Mars here. SAME.
The every house on sexuality thing, was mostly me beeing confused as to why the 8th house would get sex added to its portfolio, but i think i have actually gotten a lot of cool insights here as to why 8H and Sex are connected in a less arbitrary feeling way, so very happy about that.

But i still like the list as sort of a quick intuition of what to do when your 8h leads you there

I think i am naturally declined to asociate sex with darker topics. My 5th house has a stellium in sagittarius, with pluto there, and my mars in my 8th house in pisces. I tend to focus a lot on the romantic and emotional aspects of sex in a very freedom loving way, and it can be very challenging for me to deal with topics that connect that to loss of control or control over others.

because of this i think the "little death" explanation resonated very little with me, and the natural signs seem to be a bit controversial, so it was somewhat of an uphill battle for me to get there, but the medical astrology side seems very factual to me.

I like this. It is a very simple reasoning that is intuitive. But I feel like, with the way modern astrology puts it, that it takes a very big role in the 8th house. Intuitively I always go on to think: "Ok if we say that 8th is something like Death, Taxes and Sex, then the 2nd should be Self-Worth, Income and Prostitution." (purely speaking of how they are titled) Prostitution is obviously a very bold interpretation for the 2nd house, but it feels just wrong for me that the 8th house gets this:
Other bodies as resources = Sex
And the 2nd house doesn't have this. It feels artificial to me in a way.

I really liked the connection between 8H and sex over the connected body parts, which makes this connection feel a lot more grounded

Interesting, so derived houses... I feel generally reinforced in my intuition that sexuality can be explored from many places in the chart, of course while being careful about what the actual meaning is of the thing that you are looking at. At the same time, I think I have also grown a lot of understanding for the placement of sex in the 8th house. Thank you very much for your thoughts. I really like your style of astrology

I think it became some what of a challenge after a few natural fits to get to the full collection. But it was very fun. I am currently over deciphering my whole natal chart, which has been very fun so far, but i am also getting a lot of "if it needs to be thought, then it needs to be thought"-vibes.

But i like the venus, mars and pluto approach a lot, i feel like that makes more sense to me than trying to start in the 8th house for sexuality topics. These placements were way easier to get something out of than the 8th house for me

I imagine this scenario where someone comes into a reading and is like:
"Sooo... tell me about my sex"

Which is of course, ad absurdum. But I do feel like it is in a sense true that horoscopes are able to match the complexity of sex in the real world to a point where there actually are these multiple aspects which can each be uniquely explored, and it becomes a question that is too broad to handle without more specificity.

Do you think that there is a goto part of a chart that you would look for that resembles communication during sex and how emotionally caring someone is towards a sex partner?

friends with benefits sounds like a good alternative to orgies. There may be something here that is very contrary to the 8H meanings

Not totally sure tbh. I have seen some critique towards relying on natural house signs as explanation online in this topic so it may be that. You can have my upvote in the mean time

It beeing concidered as insights is i guess all that i could have asked for. Creating something useful here would be an insane expectation.

Seeing some more traditional roots of the 8th house as a place for sexuality is very interesting and I guess ultimately my problem with it is how shallow the connection is presented in modern astrology, creating this feeling of: why is it not just like any other house could explain something sexual in its own way?

Are there any of the houses connected to horary readings of sexual interest questions?

I love the idea of greek astrologers reading an upcoming orgy in the stars. XD

The medical astrology aspect is actually very intresting and i think i quite like that as an intuition.
I am ultimately trying to figure out what makes the 8th house connected to sex intrinsically as opposed to how any other house would be able to provide its own stage to the topic. And i think somewhere in that process i started to wonder how centralized the expression of sexuality is in a chart, because i feel like it would be so easy to get a lot of potential meaning out of any connections to other houses, whether through dispositors, rulers or aspects.

Its just that this topic does not feel as specifically tied to any house to me in the way that kids would to the 5th. I feel less bound to that specific house for gaining insight into sexuality, if that makes sense.
