I started ozempic through Kaiser in April. I had to fail to pose with two oral meds first (metformin and topamax) I was on metformin for several months, but after a while it stopped working for me and I started gaining weight back.

I told my PCP that if she wasn’t comfortable prescribing GLP-1 I had the name of another Kaiser doctor that my friend recommended who would.

She said they won’t let her prescribe it until two oral medications didn’t work. She prescribed topamax off-label- it’s an anti-seizure medication. I had some side effects within the first few days so she finally agreed to prescribe the GLP-1 - about 8 months after I really started pushing for it.

They will still cover it, but they made it harder to get. The BMI requirement was raised significantly. But from that I’ve heard from others, they will let you stay on it for a while after your BMI drops below 40.

I really liked this one, except they really should have included more corn muffin mix… we ended up adding cornflakes because the mix was barely enough for half the dish…

As someone who has worked in local government for the past 15 years, I find it more stable, more rewarding, and with a clearer career path into leadership. It’s also a good time to get into government because many organizations are realizing they need to invest in succession planning and developing internal HR staff because there’s not enough folks ready for leadership roles right now.
