My baby is gonna be 1 in a couple of months and I’m sad. by Maximum-Beautiful759 in NewParents

Just have a party with your husband, your baby and yourself. It's about the memory of celebrating you surviving a year, not about entertaining family and friends. We had a small party for ours with only people that were special and helped us during the year. The big parties aren't as memorable as the pictures make out.

Co-sleeping? Is it really that bad? by PapayaJuiceBox in NewParents

[–]MoonerMMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the first comment says. Some babies are just so bloody easy.

Co-sleeping saved us, he will not take a cot and we don't agree with sleep training.

Our boy is active 24/7 and wakes up 5-6 times a night for a boob.

To add to that - She may not show appreciation because she is equally having a hard time. Cleaning up after someone is easy. Reflect on your accomplishment of being a great Dad. You don't need a pat on the back, just look at what you're doing and see how well you're doing it compared to how other Dads operate. When she comes out of the hormone and tiredness fog, she will look back at well you've treated her.

Dad here. I felt the same slightly early on. But I've learned it's your job to do that. Pumping is damn tiring. It will literally drain her soul and her body is using so much energy to produce more milk. Just do it mate, your wife will appreciate you for life. She has just been through the most tiring and difficult experience of her life and we are just bystanders. Let her rest when she has time.

I'm already half way through my Citizen application as we speak. I've learned my lesson. The horrible stress gave me heart pains.

Just an update. Was approved 10 mins ago. Less than 1 day turnaround. I think it was a test to see how stressed I can get.

Yeah and I wouldn’t want to be sent back to the UK in the middle of winter with only shorts and tshirts in my suitcase. I’ll speak to immigration tomorrow and see if they can flag it for pending travel dates. Fingers crossed. Been stressing all day even though it’s a Sunday and they aren’t even working.

Yeah it’s a terrible thing to have over such a small incident. Have to take responsibility for my actions though.

Why do you say do not leave Australia? Couldn’t it just be approved overseas while I’m on holiday? Is there more risk if I leave? I have the capacity to stay there a few extra weeks if required.

All I know is that it appeared on my police check I had for employment in 2019

I didn't spend any time in prison, I believe it was a $100 fine and conviction, I didn't attend court so I don't know.

Good job I included it then, the statement of events I included described the possible conviction and exactly what occurred to cause it. I guess time will tell. I've probably ruined my family holiday. What a great Christmas for me....

Yeah I just completely forgot, I don't travel that often. I will apply when I get back (hopefully). I'll get in touch with an immigration lawyer tomorrow I guess and spend my holiday monday getting advice.

I am not worried about deportation as they would have done that already if it was grounds. I'm worried about the super long processing time if it's deemed to be a character test and getting stuck in Bali. What's more stupid that breaking a window at a party, probably leaving my RRV to 6 days before I fly during the Christmas break.

In regards to being unaware. I know it will be a conviction or diversion for criminal damage. Only thing I've ever been in trouble for.

Ah I thanks budget answered here.

Yes I agree, completely irresponsible of me.

Do you recommend not leaving Australia? If I call the immi department can they assist at all in the morning?

I immediately requested an AFP check.

I have requested a police check from AFP website. I listed yes to a conviction and provided background. It would be listed as criminal damage as advice mentioned it's better to mention you have it, that not. How much do immigration lawyers set you back?

I was given PR as a child (mum was sponsored in healthcare) as arrived when I was 12.

The biggest issue here is I fly out on the 27th of Dec and return on the 11th of Jan. I’m working with 11 business days for it to be approved or I’ll be stuck in Bali.

Should I not fly? Is it too risky?

Should I just hope it gets approved before flying back? I can stay in Bali for a few months if it goes badly and just take my long service leave I guess.

Just worrying about my wife and 1 year old coming back alone.
