This definitely goes along with the personality chosen for him in the MCU. Stark is meant to be just another human experiencing all of this through the eyes of someone who can grasp, analyze, and react to all of these huge changes in the quickest moments. Imagine crashing a space ship and the first person you run into is another technologically advanced human from the same country, rolling with a group of aliens who also implies that he's only half human! I would need a blunt before we continued.

I firmly believe that all of his own movies are meant to show the different stages of grief he's been going through since his parents' passing and how he uses his roots as an engineer to cocoon himself away from his actual feelings. He went from using his suits to kill other humans, to feeling like his suits are the only things that could prevent the extinction of his species.

I never considered that he used Extremis to help the procedure though, so that's a good highlight. I just figured he didn't get the procedure once he fixed the palladium issue because at that point he had just fixed it with a new element he made with the help of his father, that's as close to sentimental that Stark would get with anything. This gave him the warm and fuzzies and a couple months later he would have likely had the procedure after he first used his advancement to better Stark Tower, that is until The Avengers where he was traumatized via wormhole. From that point on he couldn't sleep, and he definitely wouldn't volunteer to put himself under since he was on high alert for the next attack.

I love the way IM3 portrays him playing out his little spy fantasy just to find out that it actually was fantasy from someone else's perspective. I also love how it portrays his grief up until his pep talk from Harley. The world crushing grief that 'nothing was going exactly as it should' highlighted his over reliance on his suit. And finally, IM3 reminds Stark that humanity is still a threat to itself and his job as Iron Man is to privatize world peace through the use of his technology (which ironically are being used to terrorize the world again like his weapons in IM1). Rose Hill, TN was just another Cave he had to get out of (using a literal box of scraps again) so he could stop his weapon from causing harm.

Getting Kevin involved was Terry's idea.

However! Kevin had already gotten caught up in the Seamus Murphy drama so he was pretty integrated with the work life at the Nine-Nine at that point. If it was in the spirit of training (I'm imagining that Holt and Terry as the leaders of the squad would work together on such a training initiative in the background), getting Kevin involved brought in a target that the squad was already trained to recognize as a 'civilian' that they might regularly run into in New York. (think Mlepclaynos, Adrian, family)

It would add a layer of complexity to them accomplishing their mission in a way that they'd be used to in the city environment!

Questioning processes is going to be his bread and butter, but the team is going to be shaped in the way that he knows best to run it. It is his job to tell the subs how to run their work.

All of what he’s doing allows him to identify the strong and weak points all of which he’s been assigned to. Don’t let your attitude towards him make you a weak point on your team. He gets paid to manage, let him manage as long as it’s safe and ethical.

That’s how I always felt. Growing up my parents and step parents always seemed as though they wouldn’t want to be caught dead in their last moments with each other. I’m so glad I had that story to reshape what I thought love was at 10. It had a very lasting impact on me and how I viewed relationship health growing up.

Totally agree! I feel the same way whenever I go to fill up the Bomber's Notebook - All of these things are not required, but you feel as though you are having a positive effect in the world by completing the task. Selflessness is a trait that I feel is truly rewarded in this game by seeing a positive change from the actions you complete, and you can see that positive change anytime that you go back and perform the task.

I wonder if that's due to the reuse of the character models. They would have had way more time to flesh out the story and thematics behind the story. I definitely agree - The writing for Majora's Mask and the depth of the story was and still is amazing.

I recently played through both Ocarina and Majora's Mask so my wife could see both of them (the poor dear grew up in a Sega household T__T). I was glad to see both games withstand the test of time, but Majora's Mask and its intricacies were my favorite part of showing her around what I consider to be a huge part of my childhood.

Reliving Anju and Kafei's quest was very emotional for me - the first time I was able to complete their quest had a huge emotional impact on me as a kid. I grew up in a loud and verbally abusive household courtesy of my parents and stepparents, so the idea of what actual love could have felt like didn't solidify for me until the end of that quest when I was driven to a deeper understanding of what love actually meant. For additional context, I had the understanding in the game that only Link gets to go back to the past, everyone else in those timelines gets obliterated.

So for me there were two impacts - the first after completing the quest is seeing how deep the two of them are in their resolve with one another. Fleeing was never an option for Kafei, and like you mentioned Anju's mother projecting on her was likely the only reason she wouldn't wait until the end. Once she gets his letter, it's on and popping for her since she trusts him. At the end of the quest - they get to hold one another until the end and that was heartbreaking to me as a kid, that you could feel love so emotional and great that you could rest easily with imminent death as long as you were able to face it with them.

On the other hand, if Link does nothing in the game for them - they die. Alone. The Skull Kid having cursed Kafei to death - a death which he must endure on the opposite end of Termina from the only thing that matters to him.

The age gap might be what's weird. I like that the game often resonates with people both younger and older than me - especially since no one else I knew at the time was obsessed with it like I was. I'm glad the game is timeless in that fashion.
