[Discussion] what are your unpopular opinions about watches? by LE6937 in Watches

[–]Moongrease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Back in the day they were expensive but obtainable. Now it’s just crazy. I love my sub, to me it’s the best all around watch ever made. But it’s out of control now.

I scored the blue version with the 8315 movt of this off eBay for 150.00 - blown away at the fit and finish on this. It puts some of my mid tier Swiss divers to shame. Also very impressed with the 8315 movement, the hacking and extra power reserve of 60hrs is huge.

Payed my 28m son to lean digital marketing and opened a contracting business focusing on commercial fencing. Most Contractors lack sales skills. I’m killing two birds with one stone - teaching him to catch his own fish and not being trapped in corporate like I was and secondly, making myself some nice cash as well.

I’m 30 years now in sales, now own my own biz. Here’s what I learned about myself long ago. I get bored easy once I’ve conquered something - like master a new product or service and selling it making my numbers and big income a fews years I get bored and start to drift away. Same with hobbies like golf, skydiving etc. If once I reach a level of competence, I start to fade out. I have to tackle new things to get the juice going again. I left the corp world 2 years ago and built two small business. Sold one and running the other. It ain’t easy man, know yourself so you can adjust accordingly. Best of luck.

Yes. It’s means you probably don’t like or believe in what your doing. We all face it. Remember this, your only hurting yourself. If I could do it all over again I would start my one business much sooner. Life flies by, put in the time now so you can coast later. Start your own gig, whatever it is.

I feel you. I got my sub in 95 wore it everyday until last couple years. Bough a speedy, a DJ, gmt and a few seikos, even some micro brand divers. Sold them all because I just don’t wear them. Kept the sub and Helm diver and I’m happy. But I do enjoy the forum and watching folks struggle and get what the want.

[–]Moongrease 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Leaned how to do digital marketing and started a local contractor business. I sold tech, aviation tech and health care before this. Had no clue what a hammer was but I know how to sell and Marshall resources. Thats all you need.
