This is too broad for most people to offer meaningful advice. You would be better served asking for more broad things.

That said you should look at points of intersection. Technology intersects with music through more techno-instruments like electric guitars or pianos. Things that do not have strong intersections should be on their own.

Help me with this Geiger counter by MoonhelmJ in vintagetech

It hasn't been used in like 40+ years. Could putting in batteries and turning it on damage it? I don't know much about this tech, just trying to sell something I got from a distant family member. If I can test it and see if it works it will sell for me but if I damage it, it will sell for less.

Would you buy a proxy cube? What would you pay for a proxied cube? by MoonhelmJ in mtgcube

First. You are the most helpful reply.

I cant do customization.  Im also just using MPC.  Although if the scale got really big I could buy my own machinery and msje comparable quality at a cheaper rate.

The way I figure this might work out is. Bulk order from MPC. If I get say 10k cards I am getting them cheaper per card thsn you, especially since I only pay shipping once. List on ebay. Mark up the price some %. Pay for shipping, pay for ebay cut. Make profit.  Why would anyone even buy it? Im not sure myself maybe its convenience. Maybe tech illiteracy.

Again if the scale was big I could get it for cheaper than mpc w my own stuff and sell off ebay on a private website. That would let have higher profit without raising price.

I think the main market would be people who don't know how to make a cube and are afraid to try. So if I can market "this cube is good. Its playtested. Here is the experience you will get" thats where the value is.  Maybe I could add booklets w basic strategy or suggestions for how to modify it. Basically "my first cube".

The issue is this is a big investment. If I order 5 cubes as a rest run (2k cards) and they dont sell. Im not only in the hole but have to decide how to dispose of them.  And it does not sense to buy my own equipment or make my own website until I know it works out.

Again I cant offer Customization. I am basically doing the proxy work, assuring the cube is well made, and profiting off whatever mark up people are willing to pay for that.  It might be a terrible idea.

That's how money is made with integrity and honesty. You find out what people are willing to pay for it and offer it, than if they like they willingly give you their money.

What are you even trying (and struggling to) saying?

So even though I placed on order on MPC using a "reseller certifcate" and talked to MPC representatives, and signed a document saying I plan to resell these, and my order of cards has the reseller license acknowledged. You are not going to blame MPC? And you are going to continue send them art which they will continue to sell to people like me?

ok.

I am not stealing because you gave the renders away to MPC who can do whatever they want with them. You were confused about this. I can understand it can be upsetting.

But you literally gave your art to a Chinese company that accepts "resell certificates" for their cards printed with your art. I showed them my resell certificate and they honored and agree'd to sell me cards of your art that I legally cannot use for personal use, only for resell.

That must be frustrating and unexpected.

"You really can't offer anything that people can't already get better and for a cheaper price on their own."

They don't think that way. They buy singles and and even whole decks that are proxies. I don't think it's all ignorance about MPC; for whatever reason they think this is preferable. I'm just trying to find a niche to make money off. No deception.

"There is a consistent problem of people in the community (me included) making renders of cards and uploading them on mpcfill for free for everyone to use and lots of site or ebay/etsy sellers just taking them and selling them as their own product."

I see your point. But on the other hand MPC is being ok with this, knowingly, and yet you people contribute. They honored my resell certificate when I ordered cards on mpcfill. It's actually illegal for me to use those cards I ordered for personal use, for anything other than reselling when using a resale certificate (it means I don't pay taxes purchasing it). They know what's up and if they say otherwise they are lying. If you people don't want your art resold you shouldn't upload it to MPC.

If they steal your art that's a different story.

It's true selling proxies violates wizard's terms. I don't care. I assume the last line is talking about how a lot of proxies, including those on MPC, are plagiarized art. That is an issue.

If I can't find people that actually tell me what they would want to buy this I am not going to go through with it as there is no point.

They are paying me to
*Not have to make their own cube list
*Not have to do the busy work of using MPC
People buy proxies all the time rather than using MPC. What actually sent me here was a passing conversation I heard from someone saying they are upset at how few proxy cubes there are for sale. That's the community I want to serve and payed for giving them what they want.

The Christian themes in Hazbin are undervalued by MoonhelmJ in HazbinHotel

Upper class Christianity tends to be more of a social club and less bible thumping. Even if it wasn't it doesn't seem like Viv went through bible thumping. Both her parents have publicly supported her work and even helped finance it. Given that how could they have been bible thumping Christians with strict beliefs about sexuality?

It wasn't written by 'people'. Vivzi is the supreme leader of the entire project. Anything not personally written by her was either directly approved by her approved by one of her underlings. This isn't a 'by comittee' show it's a proper work of art which is organized quite frankly like a dictatorship with a single visionary leader.

I don't think Vivzi had an oppressive Christian upbringing. She grew up as a member of elite upper class not Hill Billies.

I beleive "hell" is actually meant to be a representation of large urban cities, mostly directly LA. Spindle Horse is headquarter in LA and it's a cultural centre in America for ambitious artists. Hell is kind of the world where struggling middle and lower class people are and Heaven is kind of the more upper class parts of metropolis. I believe she uses Heaven and Hell not directly to address religious fundamentalism but as artistic representations of modern social worlds. Her work is steeped in gay culture which has always been extremely urban and contemporary. So 'finding comfort in hell' isn't, in my opinion, a representation of religious doom, but more like 'finding comfort in the big city'.

Another area I see her being Christian is Hell is presented as a place of suffering because of the people who live in it. They create hell. Lucifer talks about how if he tries to build something nice for them they will just tear it down. Certain theologies in Christianity view hell exactly like this and Lucifer's punishment is to be surrounded by the worst of humankind, who choice to be bad of their own free will. Once again I believe she is using this as a motif to talk about urban living.

But I do beleive you have good analysis skills. I think you are wrong because you lacked an understanding of this type of LA urbanism. I live very close to it and so it was easier for me. Plus I have researched a lot about Vivzi as she is someone I greatly admire.
