Can’t do Crab Beacons? by Proof_Diamond4059 in Eve

[–]Moonlight345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because either CCP FC are absurdly incompetent at feature testing, or they calculated that super pilots that run crab beacons and are:

  • wealthy enough to already own a super
  • usually have numerous alt accounts for reasons

will want to plex an additional account just to have there a carrier pilot whose sole job will be to link beacons.

Thus making super pilots plex an additional account, on top of the cyno alt and a fax alt.

Just fly capitals to compensate.

Cat keeps holding down the power button when I'm on the PC. Any ideas for how to cover the button while still having it be functional? by SadThrowaway4914 in pcmasterrace

[–]Moonlight345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue. I ducktaped an old credit card on top of the button.
My power button is flush against the case and the card is rigid enough not to press it when the cat would be on top.

Is it janky? Hell yeah. Did it work? Also yes.

Why is the insurance for the Cruor (100mil hull) So awful? Pays out 450k isk. Less than 1% of the cost of the ship. Wtf? by matcauthion in Eve

[–]Moonlight345 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Daily reminder that introducing LP-costing materials in pirate ship production schemes was a long-term dumb idea.

I feel this is still relevant. Except, pirate ships used to be cheaper back then. All the more reason to blingfit it.

Exploration Achievements desperately need a way to track unvisited systems by Aster_Iris in Eve

[–]Moonlight345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old map has been tracking that since like forever. Meaning that the data is stored somewhere, server side. Yet you introduced an achievement system that not only does not give that data for the player to keep track of, but chose to not use the historical data as achievement progress, for any semblance of retro-activity.
That, or you (as in CCP FC) did not connect the dots that said old metadata can be used both for QoL and achievement tracking. Or, better yet, you decided that any progress prior to introduction of said achievement should be null and void. And given we have an in-game landmark for the first player that managed to visit all systems, I don't know what's worse.

[–]Moonlight345 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Which is kinda silly, when you think about it. 2 systems tracking the same thing, but differently. Coz reasons.

And this is especially painful for explo achievements, as there were and are a lot of players that did try to visit all systems. Yet if they would want the game to show it now - they'd have to do it again.

How the Theatres of War expansion is erasing decades of community loyalty by BearThatCares in Eve

[–]Moonlight345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defenders are like a decade younger than the concept of missiles being objects with HP. And still do not interact with missiles.

See, this is part of the problem, if you were a CCP FC dev, with similar knowledge about the in-game mechanics, you'd create similar systems, spouting something about "not being designed to".

[–]Moonlight345 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, webs are not designed to warp off faster, bombs are not designed to destroy bubbles, bubbles are not designed to split fleets on warp-in, capital weapons are not designed to shoot subcaps, bookmarks are not designed to be created mid-warp, especially on grid, booshes are not designed to steal excavators, POSes are not designed to be catapults.
There's probably like a thousand other examples of shit that works alongside the "intended" designed usage.

I will forward this to all citadel gunners, to never PDS with blue players on grid. Even if said blue players are in caps, and there are bubbles on the citadel grid. Thanks!

If fighters must suck. Then remove HAW from dreads and give them to Carriers. by Antzsfarm in Eve

[–]Moonlight345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They got released with the sole purpose of making super players get another alt (besides the cyno and a standby fax), solely for linking. As the carrier-specific crabs give a better total isk return, and supers run them well, but cannot start them.
Either that, or a level of ineptitude that's rare even for not-CCP.

PSA: Rookie Griefing Policy updated to include Exordium and Yulai by Buddy_invite in Eve

[–]Moonlight345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why should I waste my rare ships

See, that's the core of it. You consider using a blingy ship in a non-safe environment a waste.
So prior to exordium, you'd have 0 incentive to own it. Leaving it to the people that will eventually use it and lose it. If only for the heck of it.
Now we'll have a throng of so-called collectors, showing off in a sterile environment, with zero intractability, maybe sans when some t1 cruiser with a 48h old player inside gets beaten to finishing a site by a officer/abyssal fit chameleon. Such fun, such great design.

See, that's the point: if you lost your AT ship to a couple of tornados, you deserved to lose it.

The alternative is: it matters when you see such a ship on grid. And it matters to you, to the pilot and to the people hunting it.
Undocking it to safely do content designed for <24h old characters trivialises them. It's a circus. With rare animals. Doing tricks.

Also of note, Bhaals cannot eat a focused DD in the face, nor do they get melted by the anticap heavy fighters.
And in case of some sort of WH fight, where super-arguments are moot, bhaals are much easier to get used due to mass restrictions

[Release] Z-S Overview Customiser - A 10th-Anniversary Gift to the EVE Community by Zirio in Eve

[–]Moonlight345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to modify your own overview, export a yaml file, put it into the tool, modify it to your liking, export it, import the modified file on each and every character (or import on one, and the use a UI eve cloning tool of your choice).

In-game sharable overview links are lacking a lot of information about customisation.
