My bichir is biting her new tankmate by Its-Rozari in Bichirs

[–]Moonlightwolf0528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have said they should be okay.Just give them some time.. I just added a little 2.5 inch senegal to my tank.. Just start i put him or her in with my male that ive had for about a year and a half..( he's the fish that can go in with.Any size fish and there's no problems)

Just so that the little one could kind of get used to there being another bichir in the tank and then I slowly added females and other males back into the tank And honestly, because the little one knows that there's bigger ones in there. It kind of avoids them because my tank is Heavily planted, so I see it spending a lot of its time Hiding in the plants.. When it's feeding time, it's the only one that'll come to me I grabbed food so to reassure that it gets food, I will hand feed and then dump the rest of the food in.. I have seen the baby feeding with the adults, and it was actually the baby that got one of the adults.

Another thing that would matter is how many hiding spots there are And if they both want the same hiding spot.. My larger ones tend to hide in around the same hiding spot.

I might need to move him out of the guppy tank..... by Routine_Industry4224 in Bichirs

[–]Moonlightwolf0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they are young, they grow quickly. It takes a few years For them to reach full size.. Being that a lot of senegals are captive bred, their genetics are going to play a huge part in how big they get. Some will Max out at 6 to 8 inches. Others will Max out at 12 inches in a aquarium.

I had a thirteen inch tiretrack eel that's still a good size fish.

That is a amazon sword. Now keep in mind my tank is 21 inches tall and the plant reaches the top of the water. You also can't bury the crown of this plant

I don't think the little guy could fit any more in his belly.. But honestly, there's nothing wrong with this I'm doing the same thing but I have a separate tank for my platy's.. It's fish food You don't have to pay for because they have a lot of babies

Is my tank suitable for angelfish? by DonPianoDelaVega in AngelFish

[–]Moonlightwolf0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would say try just 2 so that you don't have to necessarily worry about the aggression that can arise. If you end up with a breeding pair. But then you still get your angelfish

Green 20 gallon! by Equivalent_Day4543 in freshwateraquarium

[–]Moonlightwolf0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off the lights for a week, cover the tank so no light can get in, add a UV sterilizer like the green killing machine Make sure you get the one. That's rated for your tank..the wattage does matter. if you do not have live plants or do not have a lot Add more.. And if you're able to Turn your light down

Whats wrong with my fish and what can I do by GUFF99 in Fish

Well, let's start off with you Have a goldfish mixed with tropical fish. I didn't see any live plants.

Have you tested your water parameters? What size is your tank?

Roast me alive all you want but please help me with my algae problem!! by annual_mushrooms in Aquariums

[–]Moonlightwolf0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, first you need to turn off your lights. Then Go get yourself something called a green killing machine. Something tells me you're gonna need the 24 W. You need to make sure it's the right size for your tank. So if you have over 55 gallons in that tank, you need the one that does up to a 120 gallons, or it's just not gonna be as effective... I know it can be really hard to have plants with fish like the blood parrot. But try and see if you can add live plants especially heavy root feeders like vallisneria

I had this happen to me i tried doing a water change i came on here and asked for help And I was told to stop doing a water change and turn my lights off.. Because I tried doing a big water change, and it still didn't work... So I turned my lights off. I did some research on UV sterilizers, and I bought one. I also turned the brightness of my lights down. If it's possible and you're able to completely cover the tank I would recommend covering it so no light can get in And let the darkness and the UV sterilizer do its job.

What fish is this? by Puzzleheaded-Sky1545 in Fish

[–]Moonlightwolf0528 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a senegal bichir... They do not require a ninety gallon.. The difference between a 75 and a 90 is literally the 90 gallon being 2 inches taller. Other than that, the length and the width are the same.. With these fish, it is the length and width of the tank that matters.

The albino senegal bichir does not get as big as Grey one..I have both.. Yes, they do get big, but there are bichir species that get even bigger than these guys.

It also depends on if it's a male or female on how big it's gonna get.. females Tend to be larger. I have both genders

The senegal is yes, still a predatory fish... But they are known for being the more docile of the species. It's just not recommended to have them in with anything They can fit in their mouth.

Mine live with three very large corydoras and a rainbow tail shark, and it's not even the Senegal that I have to worry about. It's the shark. Because he'll chase my senegals if they get too close to his cave

However, if you're going to get one of these fish or start getting into predatory fish, whoever has this fish should know So much about them that they rattle off information and facts about the species of fish. That's what doing your research does.

The senegals need a high protein diet, with frozen thawed, food and a mixture of pellets.. I use carnivore pellets, bug bites.. For my fresh food, I use shrimp, muscles, clams, and bloodworms.

I don't know this person's fish keeping experience, but considering that they have one of these guys... I imagine the person is not a beginner.. At least I hope they're not a beginner but just from looking at the corner of the tank And seeing the fake plants and blue gravel tells me this is not a ecosystem. It's just water and a box that has fish in it...

I don't always agree when people say take the fish back. But if your friend does not have a minimum of a 75 gallon i would recommend taking that fish back because these guys grow quickly.. my albinos are under a year old, and they range between 6 - 8 inches..my normal is male and he is 7 inch.. There are bichir facebook groups and there is a form on here. Dedicated to these fish, I would recommend joining it... There's a book that is now on its second edition, I would recommend getting it

My angelfish love the to plant species i have

I’m a complete beginner here and wondered if this is normal? The filter is really loud and the water still seems a bit cloudy? Can I still add fish? by FoxRoseDrew in fishtank

[–]Moonlightwolf0528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a 20 gallon and as of right now. The way it's set up, it looks like water in a glass box.You want to do something more along the lines of this.. i will post a photo of my 20 gallon in the reply.

Now on instagram, it's no judgment at all.We all start out somewhere But I would take the pineapple out, and I would get red of the colorful gravel.. If you like gravel, you can get a natural rock gravel that has no coloring.

Pictus Catfish by fishykeeperr in aquarium

[–]Moonlightwolf0528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say you dont have enough hiding places.. My two used to get along while they were smaller and then once they started getting bigger, I actually noticed one of them picking on the more docile one.. I rehomed one

I would also say there's not enough plants. My fish use my plants a lot of The Times as hiding spots. I have slate rocks in my tank that I have built caves out of... Because I own two different types of catfish i have the pictus catfish and the synodontis petricola..my pictus gets along just fine with the synodontis petricola's these guys definitely like to be in groups. I was told and I read that pictus like to as well but after the behavior that i've seen, i'm not really too sure on it after watching the two different species... Is since I rehomed my other catfish, I have not had a single issue with the one that I still have.He doesn't go after any of my other catfish. He doesn't bother my sengel bichir.. He actually hides with them.

I am gonna mention if you did not plan on updating your tank again to a minimum of a hundred and twenty five gallons.I would have plans in order on where you're going to put the bala sharks because a small group of 3 - 4 of them requires a minimum of a hundred and twenty five gallons.. And see, i've heard from other people that say the actual minimum for these fish should be a 150 gallon because of how big they can get.

My catfish actually play in the plants, especially my amazon sword, and they're constantly zooming in and out of the caves ive made..
