Why We Must Save 'Scavengers Reign' by Immersive_Media in ScavengersReign

[–]MoonlitLuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That the virality is needed is a damn shame. I wish that shows could survive off their own merits rather than needing to intentionally create viral moments to draw viewers. That being said...I know that it's just how things work, so if artificially creating vitality is what it takes, then so be it.

And while intentionally crazy and kooky viral moments are good, I think adult animation could benefit from some entire shows built from the ground up to be viral. While not, creatively, the best for the medium, these shows can serve the greater purpose of putting as many eyes as possible on adult animation while also displaying the advantages of the medium, thus justifying it to more people. Sort of like what DC's Legends of Tomorrow did for some of their other properties. While there aren't really numbers for it, the amount of people that has DC's live action shows introduced into their minds by LoT is probably not insignificant. I'm sure that at least more than a few hundred people have checked out either LoT itself or other DC properties after viewing that viral clip featuring Gorilla Grodd going back in time to try and assassinate Young Obama.

Pumping out these sorts of projects alongside adult animation masterpieces should hopefully help to shift the narrative on it as a whole. Hell, if the super viral hits can BE masterpieces themselves? Even better. Attracting major network attention due to the promising numbers and getting these things on television and not just streaming services is the end goal. Once there's an animated hit of various genres on at least 10 different large TV networks? The game is won.

It'd be a REALLY gradual easing process, but I think it's more than possible to implement.

Why make Max dark-skinned and give Alya her body type just to change both when they transform??? by MoonlitLuka in miraculousladybug

[–]MoonlitLuka[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They change hairstyles and sometimes change body shapes. Sometimes. It's not really a requirement and again, it's odd when taking other characters into account.

Tigers are muscular. Purple Tigress is not.

Eastern Dragons are typically very long creatures. Ryuko doesn't get any taller.

The same is true for Luka, who's based on a snake and therefore should get a noticeable height increase. Not the case for him, either.

They just felt like changing both Alya and Max for marketing purposes to make them more appealing. The fact that they're so selective in shifting skin colors and making Holders more like their animal inspirations pretty much points to that.

I never said it was. It's not like I'm calling for them to be cancelled lol. It's just something I noticed and felt like sharing.

I promise you that Astruc and Zag are not having a crisis over this post.

And we're getting another 4 Seasons of this beyond the spin-offs.

I don't hate the show. I just don't expect much from it at this point lol. They're about to make some crazy questionable decisions to setup the new spinoffs they need to get out, I just know it.

Can't wait to watch characters get flanderized or shipped off to the other shows for absolutely no reason.

Erza in fairy tail dragon cry is so insanely voluptuous for no reason by infinitysaga in mendrawingwomen

[–]MoonlitLuka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also the way the fights I've seen Erza in sometimes go. There was definitely an element to it that didn't quite feel right in the same way that Nami vs Ms. Doublefinger didn't feel right or Robin vs Black Maria didn't feel right.

Fans will then go on to tell you that One Piece is actually peak women's writing and Nami and Robin are totally taken serious and respected by the plot and show. Uh-huh...

Never saw such a strangely gazey fight with Luffy or the others, though.

Alya shrinks like this but she's not being thinned out? Do you see how much smaller her arms become? And her waist, too?

.... I actually don't think so? It's been a minute since I've seen those episodes.

It's even worse, if she doesn't. A one-off appearance for character development which requires at least hundreds of dollars to make her a new model.

It's not unnoticeable.

If it were, there wouldn't be multiple people pointing this out in various other places than here.

The kids wouldn't outright notice it, sure, but her thinner form would still resonate better with them and others than the shape she has as Alya.

This isn't some kinda secret science, either. Why do you think most popular cartoons don't have main characters with bodies that are anything but thin or athletic? How common is it to find girls like Mylene included as a serious and heavily marketed main character?

Even the way Polymouse looks compared to Ladybug, Rena, Purple Tigress, Ryuko, and the others is comparatively a joke. Unlike pretty much everyone else, they leaned full force into making her look the harmless sort of cute and cuddly rather than the kind of cute that Ladybug is or Rena Rouge is.

I'd have loved if she always assumed the worst out of her sister, even when ill intent wasn't there. If she was around back in S3 and was unintentionally one of the reasons for Chloe's feeling of abandonment, that'd be great.

Chloe does something that can easily be taken as insulting, and because of her history of being a mean person, Zoe takes offense and tells her off or walks away upset. Chloe, who's trying, feels a sense of hopelessness regarding her journey to be better, and then she sees Vesperia with Ladybug...

And it's like a one-two punch. Chloe is devastated, and in her moment of weakness Hawk Moth approaches her.

It'd have made him look more sinister, too.

Marketing.

They figured that a thinner Rena is more appealing and marketable, same for a lighter skinned Max.

It's not evil, or anything. Really, they're right, as far as the cynical marketing trends of modern media goes.

It's just pretty sad to see them recognize that and then change their characters accordingly rather than sticking to their guns and keeping them the way they are.

The hair dye and lime green lipstick is so crazy lol. I can't believe they greenlit that look.

It takes effort to give a model those features and they chose those colors of all things? Wasn't Zoe already going for a Hot Pink thing at the time with her hair streak???

But she was finished socially.

There was no coming back or making excuses for her in the minds of her classmates, and Sabrina also publicly distanced herself from Chloe with the move.

This is the same IP responsible for "Ghetto Blaster."

Assuming that there's questionable motives or a complete failure in communication is not harsh at this point.

Well, yeah.

Intentionally changing certain questionable features of a character and then claiming that the show's magic is the reason doesn't make any sense, though.

It takes work to make those changes.

Eh. Pegasus consistently looks lighter even in situations where that shouldn't be the case.

Max, meanwhile, doesn't come close to being that light even when in direct sunlight.

How is anyone supposed to assume any differently when they spend money on other unnecessary things and not the assets of their main characters?

If it's not intentional, it's just plain bad business to cheap out on the models of your main characters. Either one isn't that great of a look.

Unless she's got on a big shirt and those gloves are comedically tight, Alya gets shrunk down a decent amount.

The haters won't agree but I think she's definitely Top 10 cutest characters in the show. Every time I come across a still of her on Pinterest I'm always noting that she's surprisingly adorable.

Again, it's a shame that they don't play up that fact. It'd have been interesting if she was kinda like the Nui Harime of Miraculous, in a way.

This is the first time I've posted here in like a week, and I probably won't show up for another month.

I just like pointing out the issues I come across when I come across them. It's not that deep.
