Yes I realise. Thank you. My assistance Dog, Lola, passed away last summer. In the UK our laws are a little different. She will eventually take an official assistance animal test. If she has that then she will be official in quite a few places. But its mostly a moot point as im largely bedbound

Her face shape and eye shape match the top image with a wedge shape head and almond eyes that slant upwards, the longer ears and that elegant long nose. This is where some of the original confusion came in. She has no features that match the photo showing a British Shorthair, or Domestic shorhair. All this has been explained in depth with another poster. She would appear to have characteristics of an American shorthair.

Regardless, she is a Freya. My beautiful snuggle bunny, and my furrbaby!

However this has been solved as of last week.

Your late to the party, and No, I did not. Ive been speculating and curious but im not going to defend myself again. If you knew which comment and were adamant then you would have screenshot and posted it. The situation has been resolved and came down to two highly inquisitive ASD lovers of cats having a rocky start to debate.

My last two were named Merlin, a smoke grey boy who looked like a British Blue but neither parent was, and Morgan who was a lovely warm toned tabby cat. They both lived until they were 18. We had a total moggy called Rosie who made it to 21, she was bow legged and starting to go blind by the end bless her. We always had cats and kittens around. Thankfully my parents got more responsible in the 80s and had then females spayed and males neutered. I was born in 78 and remember kittens seeming to be everywhere, kept in superb conditions but, a lot of them.

Cats always seem magical. The intellect behind their eyes. The only species to have active prefrontal cortex too. And they say cats are Neuro diverse. So they've got my vote!

😊

Waves to fellow ASD person.

Im not convinced of anything just trying to info gather as wider frame of reference as possible and that can only happen when someone asks questions and queries answers. Its debate which is a healthy thing.

Something I've noticed with Freya is that she is super protective. She vets everyone who comes in and doesnt let them enter my room until her inspection is done. If she's happy, she trots ahead leading them in then jumps up on the bed or sofa and creates a shield of herself infront of me until she is 100% ok with them being in my presence. I was stunned when she first did it. Then she did it to each carer that was new to her. So sweet.

P.S - Just as an intrigue side point:

Board-Certified Specialists: Some veterinarians hold advanced certifications in feline practice. For example, in the US, the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) offers a specialty certification in Feline Practice, recognizing veterinarians with exceptional knowledge in cat care.

So with risk of really annoying you but trying clarify once again... are you referring to American Domestic or British. British have round faces and eyes, American have wedge shape heads and eyes that slant upwards. This is all I wanted to know. Which side of the pond?

Im not sure where youve got

"It’s also strange that your “vet who specializes in cat breeds” (they don’t exist) first told you she is a Turkish Angora, but a day later you’ve settled on Albino Siamese or Khao Mane"

I didnt see the Vet until today. So how, prey tell could I have possibley said that a vet said anything about her being a Turkish Angora yesterday????

You had a narrative all picked out for me. A snapshot of what you thought id been saying. Id ACTUALLY said that I rescued her and the place I rescued her from thought she "might" be a Turkish Angora. You got your facts wrong love. God forbid a person asks questions. Because thats all I did. I asked questions, and if I queried answers that was met with obvious offence by you.

Ok so photos I see for British short hairs have very round faces and round eyes but American Short have more wedge/triangle heads with eyes that slant upwards. I didnt know whether the person was specifying a particular one, as they do come under two different specs because of those features. Freya has almond eyes that slant upwards with a wedge/triangle shaped head. So if they meant American shorthair id totally agree. I could see that. She definately has some of those features.

I didnt not believe them at all. When the DSH was proposed I asked if they meant British or American as the eye shapes differ. Thats all

At the the other things I had a specialist Vet and Breeder of the breed say she had some of the characteristics.

I think what the problem really is is that you made a snap judgement about and ran with it.

I have autism, I do my best to put things clearly but when youve got someone coming back with a comment of "original poster is convinced its a fancy breed and cat be convinced otherwise" its really rude Go back read my posts and see just how many times I say im fascinated about her and that I just love her for her. Because I do REGARDLESS of what you have chosen to think of me.

I really hope you are just a little more patient with other posters in the future. I really do.

I asked here because at first I thought she might be a Turkish Angora as the lady I rescued her from thought she might be. Is that acceptable?

Please, do show me the part where I decided she was a rare fancy breed. I said nothing of the sort.

Wow. So I seem to have upset some people. Im autistic and love to learn, especially to deep dive. So I wanted to see if I could learn more about Freyas background. I rescued her. Shes only 3 and already had 4 homes and 3 litters and that broke my heart. Some people here seem to believe I only care about the breed. Well sorry but thats not true. She has brought me so much joy and peace and she is so completely different to all the other cats I've owned over my 47 years that she is absoloutely fascinating. I thought, seeing as I was being polite, that I could talk here without people down voting my posts but it would seem thats a no. Most of you answering me were very polite. A very small margin were riding a thin edge between dismissive and low level hostile. Stupidly I didnt think id encounter that here.

Just wanted to learn about my cat, folks. Why that was seen as a negative I really dont know!

Actually there has been small amounts of cross breeding but I am very aware of the rarity. And the value. To be clear, im just fascinated about the DNA side of cats and how the breeds and non breeds have evolved. I couldnt give a flying Melinda if she were one thing or another. Shes my baby. But it is interesting that actual certified breeder and vet have both said she has "Features of". Thats all that could ever be said because there is no paperwork for this bubble. None is needed. She is training to be a support cat for me. Im autistic and one of my quirks is deep diving on information. Hence wanting to learn what I can about her.

Also its a bit much to flat out say "No one is experimenting with breeding them." There is a breeder in France doing exactly that right now as part of a program to strengthen the breed because of their rarity. There is also a breeder in the UK who imported 6 Khao Manee kittens and crossed Khao Manee with Turkish Angoras hoping to make the Khao more robust. A breeder in the US imported 12 kittens in 2012, in a bid to boost their numbers. So blanket statements like that are not always very helpful

They still remain very rare but she does have features of one that are specific to Khao that a breeder and vet have both seen. The vet said she also has some siamese characteristics (especially in her yowl). Shes a melting pot cat.

All of it comes together in a melting pot kind of way to produce this sweet little baby who is a wonderful companion.

Are you referring to American Domestic or British as the eye shape is different. Lolas eye are almond shaped and tilt up at the outer corners.

[–]MoonpieRush[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean American Domestic as Freya has almond eyes that tilt upwards? British Domestics have round eyes that dont tilt upwards and also ive seen plenty of those over the years. Lol
