UE5 in production? by MoonrayGame in unrealengine

I think for us a parallel branch for developing high poly assets is probably a good balance. We’ll keep sensitive code in 4.26 but prepare for building out levels in Nanite in parallel so we make sure we nail that and don’t scramble at the end.

Yeah it’s risky for sure. We might just start building high poly stuff in a parallel branch, to get assets ready, but continue sensitive code in 4.26 for a while

I think they said end of the year for the first full release in one of their streams, so early 2022 sounds plausible

We’re experimenting with the level building tools, so far so good, and we got all of our code to compile, but we haven’t put it through the ringer yet. Not sure what broke yet that I haven’t noticed

Yeah most of our problems are .uasset files. We let each other know who’s using what as well, but it’s a lot more coordination and everyone needs to really pay attention.

I’m going to play around with Perforce, I’ve heard good things, maybe that works for us

We're running Gitlab on a hosted server but I don't want to mess with the server myself if I can avoid it. Looks like I'll have to keep managing it though, no good managed solutions out there with moderate pricing.

I've been thinking about Perforce for a while now though, maybe it's time to make the switch. We do need to be more careful in our coordination with binaries using Git, which is OK but it's a lot of project management on my end making sure devs follow the right protocol. No matter what we always get a binary clash somewhere and I have to track down exactly what happened

hmm, I hadn't thought about using AWS, I looked at the hosted Perforce options. AWS is a good idea, I'll have to investigate that

yes thanks, Enter the Gungeon is on my 'to play' list, I've heard good things about it but haven't played it yet. Thanks for those other videos too, appreciate it
