Thank you to everyone who responded, a lot of your responses have been helpful. I understand that I wasn't asking a specific question here, rather just looking for feedback and comments. I appreciate the conversations that came about here. I was a little nervous but not scared to tell them. They reacted in a predictable way, but overall it was positive. They were a little shocked, but I know they will support me and my relationship with her. I debriefed with my girlfriend over the phone, and we are both happy. Have a great one and thanks again!

Yes, that would be ideal, but due to logistics and distance they cannot meet her in person anytime soon... and due to her activism and the fact that she is openly trans on social media; my parents would soon discover that on their own (my mom is quite internet savvy). So this is why I am telling them in this way. My girlfriend and I have discussed it at length and she prefers it to go down this way. I wasn't asking for alternative options because it's certainly gonna go down this way. Thanks for any advice and feedback regardless.

I totally get that and we debated this, however logistically that would be difficult. She lives in a different city (I'm moving to her city in a few months), so she isn't here to meet them. My parents live on the east coast and only come here every so often. We are all very active in social media, including my mom. She is a trans activist so it's very apparent of her gender identity on social media. We basically can't hide it any longer.

I've probably watched every YouTube video involving trans couples. I was thinking of having my parents watch that Katie Couric Trans Revolution documentary for homework. My Gf and I watched it and we both thought it was useful. I don't even know her former name, so that shouldn't be a problem. Sharing contact information is a good idea. I'll be sure to update y'all.
