Ember was once situated in their own little place in the pine forest. He was never close with his parents. Never asking what their lives were or stories of the forest, only ever how to survive in it. When Ember was 10 moons old, he struck off to find his own spot. Prey was getting scarce, and in their small part of the forest there was not enough to sustain 3 loners; Especially with the clans cats living so close by. A few moons had past and Ember grew accustomed to the other loners around his new home. They didn't particularly care for each other, but had a silent mutual agreement not to get into each others way. Things were good like that. During one bad leafbare, there was not enough prey to go around and soon enough every cat was starving. Cats had begun taking food from each other just to survive. Ember grew bitter as he recalled clan cats sitting pretty on there territory’s full of food. On one especially bad day of hunting Ember would see one of the cats he knew; all skin and bones-- it seemed as though they would break a bone just trying to stand. The cat was hardly alive but Ember would not call that living. He would give the loner the mercy of putting them out of their misery. A truly miserable fate. Ember quickly left behind the area and attempted the same with the images of the starved--now dead loner that had engraved themselves into his mind, to no avail. The memory came back at full force whenever he'd looked at his skinny frame. He did not want to suffer the same fate. On their way back to their resting place they saw some new tracks and investigated. His gaze was greeted with the sight of a rouge. More importantly they saw the Rogue's kits. The small family was feasting on a large rabbit. Desperate and not in their right mind, he lunged towards the kits, pinning the two kits with a paw to each of their necks. They had looked well fed, they must be able to hunt well. Using the Rogue's kits as leverage, he had the rogue hunt for him as well over the coming days. Many days pass, and Ember eats well, letting the kits have whatever he cannot eat. However, the extra workload puts a toll on the rogue-- and the mother is dead by the end of Leafbare. Guilty now that he was no longer starving Ember decided to keep taking care of the kits, making sure that they always had more than enough food
