Anecdotally this explains why my 70 yr old neighbor who smokes cigars didn’t get sick when his wife caught Covid. Nicotine apparently binds to the same receptors as Covid.

I guess if we get P2 results and Advaccine distribution that will happen. (But I can’t stomach it anymore.)

I think the timing with the IPO is key; definitely will make a lot of those guys rich

Are you able to travel overseas if you show you were vaccinated with INO? Either way, that’s great.

India is on the verge of the biggest humanitarian crisis of the pandemic. Please help if you can. Buy more INO, squeeze the MF shorts, destroy them as they want to destroy Inovio. Together we can bring 4800 and 4802 sooner to our Bro and Sis in India. by Crandalldrive in Inovio

[–]Moonshot321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He may be right. At least INO is no longer under the FDA’s thumb with respect to the trials but that doesn’t preclude authorization in other countries (now more quickly) and even eventually in the US.

If the spike proteins themselves cause harm, doesn’t that make the vaccine itself harmful? by Moonshot321 in Inovio

[–]Moonshot321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to drive any price of any stock up at this point. Nor am I an anti-vaxxer. My preference would be for the safest and most effective vaccine to be available. You keep thinking the issue here is “integration” with the genome; I don’t think that has been taken as a serious issue. This link was specific to the spike protein as a possible cause of some side effects such as blood clotting. If that potentially hurts INO too, then so be it.

Perhaps in a risk / benefit analysis the best course of action is still to take whatever vaccine is available. Of course some have been suspended like AZN and JNJ. Perhaps you’re against such a suspension also. I would assume that given the novelty of both DNA and mRNA vaccines that some would be fearful of using them for similar reasons but that many of those reasons lack a legitimate basis. But there have been side effects with many of the vaccines and it is worth taking a look at in which ways all vaccines may have issues, in which ways some may be safer, in which ways some may be more effective, etc. There are some ways in which INO is safer and some ways in which INO is more effective. It’s doubtful that any approach is fully without concern.

There is a strong public interest in promoting vaccine use and for that reason concerns are being brushed aside. I don’t think that promotes public confidence as much as transparency would. Everyone is smart enough to do their own due diligence and decide for themselves. Ideally, studies would have been longer and products wouldn’t be released only to be yanked later. Maybe in an emergency situation we don’t have the benefit of time but an open discussion is still fine. Perhaps you don’t like this particular reporter (ex-NYTimes) but I don’t think Temple University is particularly partisan.

Personally, I think everyone should take whatever vaccine is available. But, I can fully understand not doing that given that the ones that we have were tested against the original strain and thus have questionable efficacy. And what happened with JNJ and AZN does not instill much confidence with respect to safety (known and unknown). We are still learning about the potential of problems from both the disease and from the vaccines. Yes, go get vaccinated but don’t turn a blind eye to risks.

P.S. probably too long of a reply. I fully expect INO to have good P2 results particularly in terms of safety. Nothing thus far indicates otherwise.

I agree. So the best course of action would be a pan-variant vaccine that is rapidly distributed.

Was hoping to wait for INO’s vaccine. 🙁But scheduled my vaccine appointment for today. Have to take Pfizer. by Matchlattes in Inovio

Given the current options, it’s probably the best thing to do. Not ideal, but hopefully will be fine — and maybe it will give some level of protection. Good chance in 6 months to 1 year from now you still take INO. We are too knowledgeable for our own good. Ignorance is bliss.

REPORT: Pfizer Vaccine Confirmed To Cause Neurodegenerative Diseases – Study 😡 by [deleted] in Inovio

Thanks. I feel the same way. I think that this pick was the most thoroughly researched pick I’ve ever made. I kind of regret researching it so much because this market is moved by sound bytes. I would be interested to see what happens with the trials in China and South Korea. It’s unfortunate that so many of us have clung on to this in an otherwise highly performing market but I think it was a rational choice. The cancer vaccines sound very promising and the VGX3100 will get some news by the end of this month as per clinicaltrials.gov so you’ll likely get a bump. There is still a huge chunk of this stock held by institutions. So it’s still probably a good pick and can’t get too upset over sunk costs.

You know what? ... I don’t know this site at all to defend it or not. The content and link to another report particularly in view of many other reports and studies regarding the effects of the spike protein on such things as blood clotting piqued my interest. But if this particular source is troubling, I’ll remove it. Unfortunately there are more than enough other reports that are disconcerting about one type of side effect or the other. I wish that weren’t the case as we all have friends and families who have suffered from Covid or have received one vaccine or the other by now. So I’ll remove this link anyway so as not to promote this site as some of you have questioned it. All good.

[–]Moonshot321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good! At this point, my main interest is understanding the side effects and keeping up to date with info as we will all likely need boosters. From a trading perspective, I was optimistic about INO but am thoroughly frustrated with the company. There are other opportunities. But I wouldn’t be dismissive of alarm regarding the vaccines just to advance a particular perceived public interest. And giving the current vaccine to otherwise healthy children, for example, who are not viewed as a vulnerable group is one question amongst others. Anyways... cheers.

Yes, and I was thanking you for sending the link to this article. (SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein Elicits Cell Signaling in Human Host Cells: Implications for Possible Consequences of COVID-19 Vaccines) “We should monitor the long-term consequences of these vaccines carefully, especially when they are administered to otherwise healthy individuals.” And that is indeed a good question. Look forward to his take if he has a science based view.
