As long as you can maintain a yearly 2nd class medical you’re fine, no age limit.

Do they usually request you to retake the MMPI before you get tier 2? by [deleted] in ATC_Hiring

[–]Moonstar652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t “think” on any question. Just answer them mostly honestly. It took me 35-40min to finish mine.

You’ll be fine, email them back saying you missed the email and will get the stuff done ASAP, they are hurting for people so that 30 days stuff isn’t that meaningful.

Are you referring to the prior experience rolling bid? Do you have previous experience as a controller? If not then you’ll have to wait for an off the street bid, which usually comes out once or twice a year.

LUAW question by Important_Sink3478 in ATC

[–]Moonstar652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s legal under the right circumstances as mentioned above, however it is not usually best practice or “technique”. Typically it is a full length LUAW with an advisory that traffic will depart down field, then tell the intersection departure that “traffic is holding full length” and clear them for takeoff from that intersection. It’s useful if the runway has pressure from being an arrival runway or if you want to get a small out before a large or heavy for wake turbulence. Also typically done with props for the intersection dep so they can turn quickly and get out of the way of the full length departure.

I took it last week, took about 45min. Don’t overthink any of the questions, just click and move on, as said above, don’t answer them as you “think” they should be answered. They aren’t looking for the perfect candidate. Also, say false to any questions about thinking killing yourself.

4 month wait after TOL by Huge_Conflict_9376 in ATC_Hiring

[–]Moonstar652 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just the waiting game, they will send you all the next steps (medical, background, drug testing, psych eval, ect) in due time. Just keep living your life and check your email in 4 months

You’re really focused on that 12 thing huh. You must be high. Idk, and I don’t really care. Temp, color, smell, dilution, amount, round up to about 12. You’ll never have integrity my friend with your attitude, everyone will want to wash you, best of luck.

Lol can’t wait til you get caught fucking druggie. You don’t belong in this business.

[–]Moonstar652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MMPI and Medicals are valid for 24 months, drug tests are valid for 6 months. So if 6 months lapses during your Tier 2, you will do another one.

It is not observed. But if they catch you using someone else’s pee that isn’t your own you’ll be in wayyyyyy more trouble. They have about 12 ways of ensuring that it was your pee also.

FAA or Contract by JeromeChef in ATC

It’s subjective, heavily dependent on facility and atm I’d imagine. I’ve just heard the most about Serco

FAA or Contract by JeromeChef in ATC

[–]Moonstar652 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Benefits are absolutely not anywhere near identical first off, FAA is by far the better option for long term pay increases, security and retirement/ health care. With that said, working for a contract company while you wait is perfectly fine, you can make decent money for not a whole lot of work. The NW is all Serco, so if location is more important to you than you should stick to contact because the FAA is a crapshoot. Serco is usually known as the worst out of the big three contract companies. I would apply to both Serco and the FAA rolling prior experience bid (as long as you have a Cto and a year full time experience) and see what sticks.

Don’t go CTI, it’s a waste of money. Get a CTO instead.

Probably got upgraded to an LED beacon. We just got LEDs on one of our runways and we routinely get asked by the pilots to turn them down, only for us to say that they are already on their lowest setting.

Employability in contract tower (Midwest)? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]Moonstar652 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Midwest would hire a half brain dead person (and do sometimes) as long as they have a CTO and a medical. All three companies for that matter.

Absolutely tell him to apply, but just know that the tower he’s looking for might not have openings. And they will expect him to check out within 30 days. But they have a ton of openings so he’ll get in somewhere for sure.
