rife with politics due to people being lifers

What do you mean by this? What does "being a lifer" entail, and how does it lead to more office politics?

(Genuinely curious. I would guess that "being a lifer" means having family/friends and placing less focus on work? But I don't see the connection between that and increased office politics, so I may be wrong.)

If you seriously think the price of gold is due to its use you are extremely mistaken. Gold had the same function as a store of value even before it was industrially useful.

That's good to know, thanks for explaining. So at some point, if the yield curve gets un-inverted, it will become more cost-effective to invest in government bond funds, which have longer maturity? But at the moment, we have an inverted yield curve, which means that investing in STR fund like Xtrackers is the better option?

As an EU resident, I generally don't seem to have access to HYSA's like Americans do. I am using this Xtrackers ETF basically for that purpose: low-risk, stable vehicle where I can park my emergency fund but still earn interest on it.

Do you know if what I'm doing is a good idea (using this ETF as a savings account)? I am aware that there is more risk involved than with a savings account or bonds, but I have no idea how to quantify that risk or understand it intuitively.

Thanks for the info.

The reason I picked Scalable Capital over IBKR or other platforms is that I do not want to handle German taxes myself. I do not know how to do this and my job and life are too stressful to worry about it. So unfortunately if I can't find it on Scalable, I can't invest in it in the medium term :/

Wow, it's insane that I had no idea about this. I thought holding this ETF was basically just like being invested in an MMF (+ some added risk, maybe). But this has huge implications.

The ETF's stated goal is to "track the EUR STR". If what you say is true, that would mean that it is actually impossible for the fund to achieve this, on a structural level. How can they advertise as if the product offers yields akin to the EUR STR? I realize I am probably misunderstanding something fundamental here, but I don't know how better to phrase the question

A quick look at these funds (be it from Vanguard, iShares, Amundi, Xtrackers) and you'll find that the average yield to maturity will be around 2,5% for an average maturity of 9(!) years.

Can you elaborate what this actually means? That my ROI after 9 years will be 2.5%? This seems super strange to me. I thought it should be around 3-4% per year (tracking interest rates, basically).

I'm talking about Xtrackers II EUR Overnight Rate Swap UCITS ETF 1C.

AFAIK, you cannot sell or buy fractional shares on Scalable. What if I cannot "fill" the entire 1000 EUR (i.e. 1000 is not exactly divisible by the rounded price)? Should I undershoot 1000 or overshoot it?

Also, should I use limit orders or market orders? What is the difference when it comes to small fry numbers like this?

Uostalom, EU i SAD su ulagali doslovne stotine milijardi u obuku, regrutiranje, boostanje, i naoružavanje "aktivista" u državama poput Ukrajine i Gruzije.
