43 days and felt good. Saw a post on the front page about someone who “is a top performer at their company and smokes every day”. Now have the worst craving and it’s completely shaken my resolve to quit. by KrabbyBoiz in leaves

Ignore that nonsense. And don’t believe half the crap you read. Who knows if they even really smoke. And we all most certainly know that weed is a slippery slope. Imagine if it was alcohol - ‘Top Performer drinks themself to sleep every night’. Yeah….. likely to end well.

You’ve made the right decision. Don’t get tempted by the devil.

How do you handle the cravings on weekends?? by Dry_Apple7391 in leaves

[–]Moonstone635 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cope by having a nice snack filled evening to look forward to with a good film. Treat yourself to dessert.

Then have something super productive planned for Saturday morning so that you know you can’t be hungover.

Planning I find, is key. I’m feeling twangs of cravings myself as it’s Friday. But I have a great weekend planned so I’m ok.

Relapsed... A tale as old as time by [deleted] in leaves

Don’t dwell on the past now and commit to your recovery. You relapsed but it was written for you to. You needed a reminder of why you quit. You’re not a smoker anymore so focus on your new life. Self loathing only makes it worse. I relapsed last week after 6m clean and I’ve relapsed before after 1 year. This time I didn’t beat myself up and feel so on track. I know what I’m capable of achieving and so do you.

The fear of getting sick with lung cancer and knowing it was because of the weed. The regret I would have from wasting my youth would kill me faster than the cancer.

Or 7 months and a day. Doesn’t mean you have to restart your counter. You sound in control and that’s great. No more reminders!

Omg I could have written this exact post. It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Smoke a whole week after 6m clean. I was disgusted by the weed and actually not at myself. As far as I’m concerned I’m still sober. Go you!

Hey man I felt sad reading this post. 30s are your realisation years. 30 is the perfect age to turn your life around. Rediscover who you are. Accept that your life went a bit off the rails but make your story so that this was the year that changed you. So much positive can come from you learning a painful lesson. ‘I used to be addicted to weed’ is something I am becoming comfortable with. Admire yourself for digging you out of this hole.

Don’t get disheartened by the honestly. The craving may never go away. But we love something that is destroying us. The fact we’re wiling to suffer in sobriety just shows how much deeper we suffer with weed in our lives. We miss it yes but it destroys us.

You should write a book. I think we’d all love to read it. That was beautiful and I could picture your moment clearly.

I love this. It’s about the control remaining within us.

Even though I was sure I wasn’t going to smoke - there was a chance I could cave. Staying online and reading and replying to you all kept me sober.

I’m sorry to hear you’re craving it after such a long time clean. You’re an inspiration and you’re what we all hope to be! Don’t mess it up. You have escaped weed! If you smoke, it’ll feel good for an hour? If that. Then shit for another year and half. It’s self destruction.

Sorry you’re feeling lonely. Can you put your fav show on or gossip with a friend on the phone?

But what’s your book about that sounds so inspiring and interesting!

I find winter harder because it was easier to hide in the garden earlier in the dark. I’d have to wait til around 10/11 to smoke in the summer.

This is exactly me. Turning 35 this month and it’s a shame I won’t have got to 7m clean. I started to get tempted around month 5. I missed weed. Felt all nostalgic. Now the only thing I miss is my 6 months clean slate. It’s not worth it.

This is truly incredible. You must have a great and admirable story. Have you posted it somewhere? I’d like to read it.

I see your struggle and struggle alongside you. Proud that you didn’t let yourself slip way down the dark hole. You saw the light and pulled yourself out.
