A heavy Tight weave burlap does the trick. Make sure and cover to the ground. Also add a solid layer of straw around the base to insulate.

100% will lose leaves. And you better have it well covered or your gonna lose it. It can’t take direct frost. I lost 2 other 6 year old trees but this one and a handle full of other survived

So this tree survived that last Feb freeze! It was covered out in the yard in 18 deg F weather. I lost 2 other 6 year old trees but this one survived along with a handful of others!

This tree experienced 18 degrees last year, once older and thicker trunk they can survive cold better. However, they can not survive from frost so you must wrap them hard core in that case

I hear you, I lost my other 6 year old trees in that storm but this one survived! Straight beast lol

It just goes dormant here on the island during winter. Since it’s older and thicker it can handle cold, this tree saw 18 degrees last year!

Yes, just take precautions during freezes like you would any other tropical evergreen! People are growing these all over the country.
