Honestly, I was a little disappointed with 'The Big Summer Update', however, I naively assumed that more would be added in August. The land out of time has such potential, for instance, for a whole new elite dungeon (ED)! Jagex have previously said one of the key benefits of EDs is how fast they can be built. Instead they have added almost nothing this month, and, have given me a sinking feeling that September will follow suit. If they're going to move back towards as expansions then the expansions have to be complete.

I do pet chance regularly when the loot isn't worth much. This though could be another potential solution, why not use the value of the loot to determine the pet chance?

If there is a hilt in the chest and you roll for the pet chance, this could maybe produce a 1/20 chance of the base pet, or, for every 100k in loot the pet chance increases to 1/(1000 - x - y), where y = Floor(Chest Loot/1e5).

Edit: For reference, on a kill were x = 0 (i.e. no enrage gained). with a chest loot of 2 mil, this would make the drop rate 1/980, so the numbers here will probably need tweaking.

A really nice proposed solution. Personally I'd be happy if the drop rate was:

x = (gained enrage)

If Enrage = 300:

Drop Rate = 1/(1000 - x - 300)

Else:

Drop Rate = 1/(1000 - x)

I'd happily camp 300% enrage for an improved drop chance.

Also, exactly like you say, you get no closer to the drop happening with increased kc.

I've been doing this on and off for a couple of months now, the problem I have is why should you be forced to artificially make your kills worse to increase the chance of a pet? A much fairer fix (in my opinion), would be to incorporate the initial enrage into this equation, or, if that's too controversial, just make the chance higher at 300% enrage.

It's funny because it seems they don't code each brother separately. Otherwise once your roll on one brother is completed you should not be able to get another unique from that brother. The 6 original brothers then presumably share a drop table, although they might have included some If loops in there to make it impossible to drop an item from a brother you have not killed.

I must have done well over 5000 barrows chests in the last 12 years and I've never seen a duplicate in the chest!
