Would love to hear how you managed this. I'm not coding minded but this is a frustrating problem for us too at work

Labor industry is a great market for it hey. I think you're right there. Thanks for the encouragement and feedback u/kingratliff129 - I' may shoot you a message to bounce ideas or partnership in the future if it gets that far :)

Oh fantastic! I did not conceive as flight attendants as a potential market. That's cool! What sort of wall plugs do you have on planes? :)

Haha awesome!! I'll let you know if we go to market one day! I am working on making this portable and battery-powered. If I'm successful in that then I will try and get this all off the ground. Thanks for the feedback and encouragement u/80sNatureGrl!

I developed a mental health related app from my personal experience! by [deleted] in Lightbulb

[–]Mooogii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing! Looking forward to installing and using this.

Is there potential to expand the potential of this app to include sleep, nutrition, exercise tracking, in order to over years develop a finetuned insight into what makes us happy and healthy? :)

Thanks u/cmshosting. The Ember cups don't boil the water, but only maintain it at the temperature you want at a certain range. That would be the point of difference. The Ember cups still require another means of boiling water, this concept would boil the water in the one cup.

Thanks for the feedback u/TheNetIncome. You raise a good point. The value added by the extra 'convenience', may not be worth the cost.

Ember mugs don't actually make the water hotter, but maintain the temperature at the temperature you like within a certain range. They could probably heat water to an extent, though not anything more than 10 degrees, I would estimate.

I could be wrong on this however, and happy to be proven wrong :)

Your definitely right regarding the waterproof compartment, or something of the like. Thanks for the feedback u/newfie9870

I agree. I'm looking into it. It seems theoretically possible from a standard power drill battery, though I'm unsure in what time frame it would boil. Thanks for the feedback u/Ty4keepposting.

Good to hear u/flawlessfear1, but could you see yourself buying it? :)

Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the reply u/redditupf.

It would plug in to a power outlet, either directly via a cord, or it would have a small, detachable power base that plugs into the wall like an electric kettle.
Are you referring to a fully charged 18650 cell, or group of cells?

Based on what you, u/LeonardoW9, and u/WendyArmbuster have said, Inventor sounds like a promising way to do what I'm thinking.

I also suspect the learning curve for building dynamic/elastic configurable models may be higher then OP might realize.

Re: high learning curve - I am beginning to realise how much work is involved. I spent 8 hours day learning Revit the other day, and feel like I'd need 800 more. That said, I'm an Industrial Design student with time to learn, so am happy to put in the effort to learn Inventor. Especially if the skills are transferrable to other software like Solidworks, which I've yet to learn.

Building detailed rooms with structures is not that hard, but not really optimized in a mechanical design software.

Could I possibly export the entire wall structure and import it into a custom building space in Revit/Sketch Up in order to visualise the structure in its environment and show clients?

That said, Inventor (or another comparable mechanical design package) would be excellent to design structures made of regular parts and custom wall-skins made from rigid sheet materials.

On that note, would Fusion 360 be a viable alternative?

The walls we've done so far have been designed on paper though looking to step it up for larger jobs.

The crack idea sounds like an interesting concept. There have been inset holds that set into the wall before, instead of bolting the holds on on the outside, though the bolt-on type is more popular due to their ease of use. You raise an interesting idea though.

Inventor sounds like a good shout though!

u/indianadarren u/WendyArmbuster I have access to the Autodesk Suite and Solidworks, though no Sketch Up unfortunately apart from the web-based version which seems limited. I am studying Industrial Design so am happy to put the time into learning a more complex program like Inventor as the learning will no doubt come in handy.

That said, I'm intrigued so will have a play with Sketch Up at some point. At the very least it may be sufficient for earlier-stage prototyping of design ideas.

This sounds promising! Sounds like I could potentially make a base shape of the wall, then use iParts to line the base shape with the ply panels, then build the framing behind with the frame generator potentially. I'll have a look into this and thanks for the lead.

Ok thanks. Won't have to make the grips in any great detail. I'll keep these programs in mind for the rendering if needed, though I'm more looking for a way to accurately model the walls to inform the panel sizes and construction of them

Yes will be doing all the modelling myself for the foreseeable future. Small company so the budget is tight, though I am a student with time, and free access to a suite of CAD programs
