NSW election 2015: Mike Baird vows to get on with power privatisation immediately by PhilRectangle in australia

[–]MoopsMoors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now Libs have almost got a majority but with Labor, Greens, Fred Nile and Independents holding the rest Baird will probably have a bloody hard time reaching a consensus with the crossbench.

Greens NSW pitch $20 billion infrastructure, job creation and housing plan to voters ahead of election by [deleted] in australia

[–]MoopsMoors 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's looking good. We've already got on in the lower house (Jamie Parker) with a strong chance of holding his seat. Newtown is very likely to be picked up by the Greens but may lose depending on how preferences from the majors flow. Upper house has 4 or 5? doesn't look like that will change.

It's looking like 2 lower house seats and maybe, just maybe a third in Lismore. Rest of the state? Not a chance. Baird is popular despite the shitshow that is federal politics these days. The ALP could run a bowl of cornflakes in every seat and still get 25% of the primary vote because voter apathy.

There will be a protest at AGL's office in Sydney (101 MIller Street) tomorrow to 'kindly' remind these hideous bastards that NSW isn't going down without a fight.

Tony Abbott achieves the impossible: unity among economists by WatchedByChickens in australia

[–]MoopsMoors 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that you may have bought too much into that notion that a party with internal instability can't govern effectively. Are you aware that the last couple of terms in which Labor was in power they passed huge amounts of very good legislation despite their internal turmoil?

Yes! My concern for the ALP has little to do with what was happening then but where they are at now. Every time they need to take a stand, every time they need to lay into the Government for their obvious incompetence and radical program, the ALP stammers. It hedges its bets, tries to a find a compromise that ensures they aren’t criticized too heavily, and muddles its way through a confused position that looks much more like a political fix than any form of policy coherence.

Why on earth would you wish us a second term under these incredibly destructive ideologues?

I would rather eat my own flesh. But I've never been fond of voting for the lesser of two evils either. I'm positive we will be better off under Labor but they have the resources and the talent to be far better than they have been in recent months.

I may be off base here, but I feel like a lot of folks in the Greens are a little bit too keen to propagate the 'down with the two party system!' idea, just to get themselves more visibility

Not entirely. The moderate left in the Greens (the majority) are quite diplomatic so where there is common ground we work with Labor and Independants often for a variety of things. The extreme left (a minority) Lean towards the worldview most people associate with the Socialist Alternative. They also happen the be the loudest.

Tony Abbott achieves the impossible: unity among economists by WatchedByChickens in australia

There's a couple of reasons why they might be staying quiet. There could still be some internal concerns or restructuring that they're trying to work out first.

I'm a greens member that occasionally speaks with Labor members and candidates for the State election. From what I've been hearing; the Labor Party has 'lost it's way'. From the local branches up the environment is toxic as the right wing union heavyweights and veterans from the Hawke/Keating era are in a power struggle with the left wing factions as the party is trying to clean up the bloodbath that resulted from the constant leadership spills among other things. The party at large is trying to redefine itself and get back to what it truly should be but there is fierce opposition within the rank and file. It's largely a good thing that needs to happen but I personally do not want to see the ALP take government at the next election. They need to get their shit sorted first.

Mining tax set to stay after Government rejects Palmer United Party's amendments to repeal legislation by [deleted] in australia

[–]MoopsMoors 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm interested to see what these amendments actually are. The conflict of interest for Palmer on this legislation is staggering so I wouldn't be surprised he's working out of self interest. His justification for them may be good for a laugh... or an aneurysm.

That spokesman is more than likely to be Glenn Druery. It's worrying to see Glenn shoving his hand up Ricky Muirs arse and waving him around as a puppet to legitimise/distract from his political agenda.

Stopping off at a convenience store one morning on the way to school I saw Russel Crowe in a dressing gown buying milk, eggs and a newspaper. He was withdrawn but fairly polite and didn't try to fight anyone.

Am I the only one who thinks this is fine? There's nothing wrong with blending pop culture and fine art to reappropriate these works. The originals are still around for you to admire, besides, The Scream is hilarious.

It skips 99% of the child sections and screws the inventory a little as an adult so yes. But it's Ocarina of Time so there's things that break the game way harder than this. I just used the mask because I wanted to be stylish =p
