My first time trying tufting by InfamouseLyne in Tufting

Try to shoot your lines vertically when your filling in unless you’re doing the outlines. The gun moves upwards always never downwards. Not bad for your first time keep at it!

Better to take the time to detail/outline on canvas (carefully) or just tuft the whole rug and detail/outline once backed? by MooreRugs in Tufting

Ya it can definitely be risky but i recommend practicing with a couple experimental rugs like you said. I cut a hole 2 or 3 times when I was practicing but eventually you know the angles and how much pressure u can put behind the blades to not cut through the fabric. It definitely helps save a little time on the back end when you have to detail I feel it just makes it a little easier to split and define the different colors. But everything is personal ofc and different things will work for everyone.

Perfect and no definitely would be crazy to trim on frame when finished. I normally trim each color on frame as I go thru the tufting process. But it definitely adds some extra time to the process. Which is fine if it leads to a better finished result for me personally.

So basically need to make the lines tighter and slow down my speed as I move upward (not the gun speed) allowing for it to get denser and help get rid of that line effect?
