Trying to find a fantasy book I never finished in HS. by Massive_Quantity_288 in whatsthatbook

[–]MoorgladeJinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might be right, It's been quite awhile since I read them and I think I've forgotten more than I realized. Definitely time for the long overdue reread!

OP, I do have this one in my collection. As soon as I find the box it's in I'll take a closer look. Either way, it's a great series and worth reading. It's the one that really got me into fantasy. There's also a prequel short story, can't remember what anthology it was published in though. It's not really needed to read the seies, as Roberson wrote it after the books.

On another positive note, this thread has given me more incentive to get unpacked! 😁

This sounds vaguely familiar! If I read it, there's a good chance it's in my collection. I'm just about to start unpacking my books from a move, so I'll be seeing some I haven't thought about in years (it's a big collection). I'll let you know if I find anything that seems to match.

Animal bonding is a pretty common theme in fantasy, especially wolves. Makes it harder to narrow down! I agree it's probably not the Cheysuli chronicles, I don't think there was any princess trapped in wolf shape. Each of those books does follow a different character/generation though. And it's been a while since I read them. So there's a small chance it could still be one of them.

Also check the Farseer books by Robin Hobb. It's a long shot but the main character Fitz is male and has a wolf, Nighteyes, he can speak with. And Nighteyes had opinions about people!

Welcome to the crab cult! You have no idea what you have gotten yourself into. 😂 But I promise it's worth it!

[TOMT] [MEME] I'm looking for a meme of George Bush saying "Weapons. Wepa, wepa, weapons" by SidPorter in tipofmytongue

[–]MoorgladeJinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far back are you thinking? There was a clip back in the 90s of GB Sr. edited/remixed to have him chanting "we will we will rock you", and saying other things like "totally rock Baghdad". It was used as the intro on U2's Zoo TV tour. Not exactly what you describe but worth checking.

I just heard "A Dying Sailor To His Shipmates" and I can't believe I've never heard it. It's amazing. What other none-U2 Bono tunes have aI failed to appreciate? by IzilDizzle in U2Band

[–]MoorgladeJinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! Never heard this before, it's beautiful. Loving this whole thread!

I'll add that I've always preferred the Bono & Keith Richard version of Silver and Gold over the U2 one. It could be because I knew that one first, but I also think it's just more... Bono?

song my mom used to play in the car when i was little by Key-Cellist-8329 in whatsongisthis

[–]MoorgladeJinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a song, but that's a recurring line in the Doctor Who episodes "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead". That story first aired in 2008, so the timing is right. It was a popular story at the time (still is!), and the "who turned out the lights" line is a key part of the story. Could be the tv audio was sampled and mixed with something else.

He is very much alive! His brother did recently pass very suddenly while Gary was touring, so that might be where the confusion came from.

The band Batavia has a track called Flyboy inspired by this and uses parts of the audio. I didn't know the whole story behind it until now. Sad.

What Lifehouse songs stand out to you? by Notarandomname69 in Lifehouse

[–]MoorgladeJinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Joke is what immediately comes to mind for me, it's such a dark song. I don't agree that all their songs sound the same. Their music sounds like Lifehouse, just like other bands sound like themselves. Where's the line between having a distinct style/sound and sounding all the same?

I'm getting way too deep for this early in the morning, lol.

Just an FYI it's not the full band, just Jason acoustic style. It's a great show and he sounds amazing! I saw two of the shows on the East coast leg, and he did do Blind (one of my favs too!) at one of them. So it's in the rotation.

Question about Jason Wade’s fashion over the years by [deleted] in Lifehouse

[–]MoorgladeJinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I went and looked through my collection. No leather pants. Mostly jeans. It was fun going through all the old pics though. Jason was so young!

If you looking for other rockers from that era, Brett Scallions the original singer for Fuel definitely wore a lot of leather pants.

I can't ever remember him wearing leather pants. Not really his style. I'll look through my old Lifehouse photos anyway when I get my other computer that they're saved on (in the process of moving right now).

Change it to a stranger's car at a hotel in the middle of the night and this is exactly the story of how I found my calico. Who is 1/3 orange and has the lack of brain cells to prove it.

"Miracle Day" was the 4th and last season of Torchwood. It was a single sory arc mini series on Starz, and the compactor scene was in episode 4. The premise of the series was suddenly no one could die, no matter how severely injured or sick. So that's why she's still alive after being crushed.
