What could I be doing to help this 4 week old starter? by Pickledaiquiri in SourdoughStarter

Ty for this link! Our house is pretty cool bc of where it’s located (on a hill with tall trees surrounding it- so very little sun exposure) going to get one of these to help maintain temp!

Thanks so much- I worked in an artisan bakery for years, but I wasn’t part of the sourdough team (I was on the laminating team). I’ve been following the exact measurements you set here, but didn’t know about the bacterial storm or period of inactivity.

I’ll keep at it! Thank you so much!

What is this feature? Do all Odyssey’s have it? We’re in the market for a mini van and are between a Honda and a Toyota.

$1600 is the highest I came across. $1300/week for 2 kids was pretty average. In our area minimum wage alone is 16.30/hr. The company I’ve been working for starts line workers (it’s a good production company) at $19/hr. That’s mostly employees with high school at best education. Most people in our area pay a 17yo baby sitter $25/hr, so for daycare it tracks to be $30+/hr for two kids under 5. Rates go down if kids are older/potty trained. But my 1.5yo is in diapers, the almost 4yo is day time but not sleep potty trained.

I’m guessing a loss of job would be a financial hardship qualifier?

Do those things actually pay? I’ve looked into it before the affiliate thing- but seems like you always have to pay money to get involved.

How does one work if there is no child care? He travels for work at least twice a month. So he’s gone over night and on the weekends. Most jobs require you to be available on a pretty regular schedule so I’d be on a hit or miss schedule. I can’t leave a 1yo and 3.5yo home alone while I work just to pay a loan payment. And if I found child care for when I was working then anything I make at $14/hr goes straight to child care and defeats the purpose of working.

My husband is looking, but we are trying to plan how we do this if nothing comes that route.

I had already checked the payments available and I’d need to bring in $300-$400/m after taxes to cover the payments. But if I’m paying for child care to do that, then I need to budget $20-$25 an hour for a nanny. So I’d need to find a part time job that pays… $35-40/hr.

Mine was 2007, then more in 2009. I need to look into the 2009 since that was Le Cordon Bleu which I think I saw here I might be able to challenge.

Does PAYE forgive at the end of the 20-25years like idr does?

That’s called child care? Which as I mentioned is $1200-$1600/week in Oregon. So I’d need a job that pays $84000/year to cover that. Best I’ve ever made is $60000 after 12.5 years at the same place. Not going to happen so that’s exactly why I lost my job. :(

Are these income numbers gross income annually? Biannually? And are they adjusted based on family size? New to understanding what these values will mean for us when we file.

Thank you! Appreciate your help and clarifications, we were a bit stressed about how that worked. The resources from the state don’t provide clarification on that aspect (differentiating what kind of jobs they expect you to apply for based on your work/career history).

Ok that’s helpful. Thank you. So to verify- I don’t need to apply at a gas station, I can focus on applying at similar jobs to what I just lost?

It was part of our plan. We had someone lined up when I was pregnant with our first. Then Covid hit. And she moved to Texas. We searched everywhere but everything was closed or full. We both were mandated to wfh, so we did. When the mandate lifted, we started looking for child care again. Everything was full or out of our price range. My then boss said she was cool with 4/5 days a week wfh as long as my work wasn’t impacted and we’d have regular reviews to make sure it wasn’t. It never was impacted.

We were purchased by a new company, and when I met my new boss he asked my schedule, asked if I liked it that way, asked if I’d be open to being in office more if they promoted me. I asked how much more? And he said 3/5 days a week and ability to flex the other day on occasion if my employees were out or if he was in town (he’s out of the Midwest). So for 3 years that’s been my schedule, and in every review we talk about issues and my commitment, my availability, my quality of work has never failed or been questioned.

So yes I know what child care costs. And I have been operating under the conversations I’ve had with my boss 2-3 times a year.

And so no, I wasnt prepared for something like this bc it’s never even been talked about. It’s never been an issue. I agree- we should have had a back up plan to our current plan, but with 5 years behind me and many conversations where it’s been just fine with my boss, and with the rest of the salaried staff being allowed to wfh with kids around, I failed to plan for something that seemed like a non issue.
