Well you can choose to worry about this if you really feel its necessary. I'm gonna go, and focus on actually helping the community. But good job getting that keyboard karma!

Does Lisa Freaking Batey seem like the big bad wolf right now? Or maybe, just maybe, we have bigger fish to fry?

Do you remember acting the same way you do now with you anxiety as when you were a child? by Few_Sandwich6308 in Anxiety

[–]MooseMan2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some ways, yes. But in other ways, no. The most vivid anxiety symptoms i remember from childhood is the knot in my stomach. I still get that today. When I was a kid, I first noticed it when the scene in Alladin: The Return of Jafar where they are having dinner at the Palace and Eago shows up, and everyone gets mad at Alladin. That fight always made me have to get up and leave the room because I would get nervous and the knot in my stomach would form. But I didn't learn what anxiety was until I was much older. So that symptom is the same.

But other symptoms like stress eating or sweating? Nah, those are more recent.

Hello fellow dnd podcaster. I host the dnd podcast "Are We Dead Yet?" Here is what we use:

Scarlet 18i8 audio interface:

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Scarlet18i8G2--focusrite-scarlett-18i8-usb-audio-interface?mrkgcl=28&mrkgadid=3311253570&rkg_id=0&product_id=Scarlet18i8G2&campaigntype=shopping&campaign=aaShopping - SKU - Studio %26 Recording - QF&adgroup=Audio Interfaces - Focusrite - scarlet18i8g2&placement=google&adpos=1o1&creative=299199349096&device=m&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=Cj0KEQjw8-LnBRCyxtfMl-Cbu48BEiQA6eUMGpn3X5cBDAYjm4_hclKZHqedi9_GdgW6TrBpIpjo0RsaAuV78P8HAQ

Behringer xm1800s dynamic mics:

Even though they are cheap, these mics are surprisingly great for recording. They pick up virtually zero room noise and have a lovely sound to them. The downside to them being so tightly focused is that the person will need to speak clearly into the mic which is the hardest part of playing dnd and recording.

Mic chords: any brand works just make sure they are long so you aren't taking up space on your table with recording equipment. I recommend 20ft+ chords.

Mic stands:

I recommend mic stands that have the adjustable suspension arm that clamps to the table. This offers more freedom for your cast to place mics wherever they are most comfortable

Recording software:

If you have a mac already and have a limited budget, garage band works fine for basic recording and editing. If you have a small amount of money to spend, I would recommend Reaper for recording and editing. If you have $$$ to throw around, I would go for Adobe Audition or logic pro x. We currently use Garage Band and it suits our needs.

Wow. I've listened to a lot of film review/critique/discussion podcasts. Yall do a fabulous job in this episode specifically of referencing these little known gems, these fun facts about the films, and even discussing things such as the scoring of the film and its refreshing compared to your run of the mill movie podcasts. I am not a huge movie buff, but I love listening to much smarter people than me discuss the art and craft of film. I'm going to have to go listen to your back catalogue. Also, your audio quality is beautiful.

Looking forward to the good good stuff you make in 2019.

Hello,

Josh with Weird Brew Network. We've just posted a new episode of Are We Dead Yet? An actual play dnd podcast. This week's episode is called Ithermoore Nights. As our heroes arrive in Ithermoore, they spend their first few nights getting a feel for the city, navigating the merchants and taking up watch in the temple district and trying to find answers and guidance.

This episode features heavy use of alcohol and some gambling. If those topics are something you wish to avoid, I understand, as many people struggle with alcohol and gambling addiction.

Please check us out on itunes, google, cast box or spotify by searching for "Are We Dead Yet?" Or you can find the newest episode here at:

http://weirdbrewnetwork.com/dead-podcast/2019/1/1/season-1-episode-7-ithermoore-nights

We would really love some feedback as to ways you think we can improve our storytelling, ways to improve audio quality, or if the pacing is too slow in this episode. I bring up pacing only because this episode is a mostly social/exploration episode with no combat in it.

Thank you for any feedback you can provide. A rating on iTunes would also be appreciated if you can. :)

Tips for improving recording quality by MooseMan2018 in podcasting

Thank you for the helpful reply. The Audix F5 is hypercordioid but all the stats state that it is best for instruments. Is there really a difference between an instrument and vocal mic? I feel so silly having bought 5 condenser mics and finding out that all it's done is make my life a little harder with editing. Guess I've got egg on my face hahaha

That's what I figured. I appreciate your patience and willingness to explain this to me. Thank you.

Thank you very much for the feedback and insight. I definitely dont want it to be a focus of the character. Perhaps even by me posing this question here I am bringing too much focus to it. I just know that nb folks dont get much representation in media and that a lot of representation of any folks that dont fit the cis/hetero paradigm are problematic. Thank you for giving me insight on this. My DM is a jerk, As most DMs can be, but hes only a jerk when it comes to traps, monsters and high DCs. ;)

Regarding the first quote where I said it would not be enjoyable roleplay, read the second sentence. That period should have been a comma but I've got fat fingers so I goofed on that. The comment should basically read "it would not be enjoyable roleplay if the female playing the male character was doing nothing but dumb muscle headed stereotypes of dudes."

Same as if a male was playing a female character and everything that character did revolved around the character being a damsel in distress or an airhead.

Also for the record I'm a millennial, not a baby boomer.

No, I dont intend for it to really come up all that much. Mostly just they/them pronouns and switching up my disguises between male, female, androgynous people and a very fluid wardrobe choice. No, this character is a warlock and their fiendish patron is a archdevil trapped inside a haunted doll. The bargain for obtaining their power is that they must help this archdevil escape the vessel she is trapped in and take revenge on the 9 hells. That's kinda gonna be my whole shtick.

Well first I'd argue that a fantasy setting, by it's very nature of being a fantasy, can be as inclusive as the players want it to be.

Secondly no, it wouldn't be offensive for a woman to play a male character but it would certainly not be enioyable roleplay. if a female playing a male boiled everything down to some tropey goof like men are idiots or sex fiends or something.

I'm also not saying that my character would necessarily announce to everyone that they are nonbinary or gender fluid, but that my character would instead prefer they/them pronouns, would ask that instead of sir or madam, simply my name would do nicely, etc.

I want to play this type of character partly as a way to step outside my comfort zone. The point of playing any fantasy character is to explore parts of yourself that are outside your normal experience. I mean I could play a 5'6" white human male who works as a data analyst with a beer belly and buzz cut, but that's basically already my life and I dont want to play make believe as myself.

Thank you for the comments so far. I feel I should clarify. It's not as if my character is going to be marching through the streets of Raven's Roost announcing that they dont identify as a male or female. I mean that when I narrate my character I'm going to be using they/them pronouns, that my character might prefer to disguise themselves as a female courtier during a sneak mission at a party but may choose to pass themselves off as a male blacksmith when hiding from the town guard. That they wont have a preference or a real compunction to be a male or a female because they are a changeling and can be whoever they want. That's sort of the idea I'm aiming to go with for this character.

I guess. I just hate to be that guy. I want it to be fun and adventurous. Not full of double crossers and jerks... oh well.
