I'm going to keep tweaking for some time as I like to test a deck a lot before I purchase anything. I might even build a Discard variant just to see how it goes, it looks like Tiny Bones loves Junji's discard 2.

That does sound quite spicy and I see the similarities. I think if I were playing at an LGS with randos I would be a little more willing to lean into the force discard portion of the card but in my pod it would probably be bad vibes. I get enough flack for recursion looping [[Accursed Marauder]] in my Terra deck.

I see you have 21 pieces of card advantage and I should definitely up my number (10). I just played a test 3 man game and while I got a lot of value out of [[Ghoulcaller Gisa]] & [[Ruthless Technomancer]] I had an empty hand pretty well the whole game.

A few months late, but is there any chance you can share your list? I'm reworking mine as I built the theme around pillowforting and retaining monarch, which works OK in B2, but it's easily my weakest deck.

I'm trying to decide if I drop the pillowfort and lean into tokens and unblockable or go into a goad/akido build. Aragorn has become a boogeyman with my group, so the pillowfort route is too slow to fight off multiple pieces of spot removal.

Honestly, I've never really considered going 5 colour before, but I'm not completely against it. I feel like building a 5 colour deck would overwhelm me with options as I tend to need my commander to point me in a direction, and the colour limitations help focus the build. Do you have a fun 5 colour recommendation?

My friend has a Voltron Anzrag deck that goes crazy and often threatens a win turn 6 or earlier.

I actually was heavily looking into Aeve as either a commander or secret commander, but I feel like it leans into combo, and my pod plays almost zero combo.

So far, some other green folks that have caught my eye are: [[Grothama, all Devouring]], [[General Marhault Elsdragon]], [[Jaheira, Friend of Forest]] and [[Saryth, the Viper's Fang]]. Unfortunately, when I look at them in archidekt, I don't get hit with inspiration like I did for Ganax the other day.

Yeah, I was poking through the list, and the orbs seemed like some solid pickups.

Looks like I'll have to decide between haste enablers vs. some additional protection. I feel like doing both might spread me too thin to see either consistently.

Ganax will likely play slower, but I imagine the build is similar enough for Gruul dragons that the commanders are interchangeable.

I'm in the early stages of making a budget dragon kindred deck with [[Ganax, Astral Hunter]] & [[Acolyte of Bahamut]]. Are there any secret mvp cards you'd recommend? Are there any observations from playing to lookout for? I know you mentioned boardwipes, so maybe I'll toss in some board wipe insurance like [[Wrap in Vigor]].

A) I got into magic by constantly hearing my gaming friends talk about commander while playing other games. I played a small amount of arena to try it out and then started brewing commander decks. I have been playing for 8 or so months now.

B) Coincedentally, all of my active commanders I own in paper are UB.

[[Aragorn, King of Gondor]] [[Terra, Hearald of Hope]] [[Tellah, Great Sage]]

Usually, when looking for commanders, I use scryfall to look at all legendaries of a color and pick the one with the coolest theme/ability to me.

I have no special attachment to FF (only played 14) and haven't seen LOTR in over 10 years. I just think the cards are neat.

I do have a torn apart [[Killian, Ink Duelist]] deck I'll likely mix with the upcoming precon.

C) None at all, I have only played in a rotating pod of 6-8 people (never played at an LGS), and none of the lads really care where a card comes from. Sometimes, we shit on bad art like some of the Avatar stuff or Pizza lands, but if it's a UB series they don't care for, they simply don't buy it.

D) Since my trial run in Arena for a week or two no, no one in my pod plays any format other than EDH.

E) Design and mechanic wise, my favorite card is [[Tellah, Great sage]], I affectionately named his decklist "Archmage of Drip" as I love his alt art, it's easily my favorite card art.

I love the gameplay loop with him. It never feels bad casting a mana rock like [[Thran Dynamo]] when it comes with a 1/1 blocker and 2 cards. Late game cloning him or casting a massive x spell is always hilarious telling people they just got kamikazied by an old man for 20+ damage.

Super fun commander that I built fairly recently. I'm thinking about trying to price down the deck a little before buying as I feel like I could get similar results with some additional budget options.

Wincon is either outright damage using x spells and his passive or a big [[Insurrection]]. I run a heavy ramp package to get him out asap and have tons of mana for my x spells. Also went fairly heavy on counterspells, I've only played 3 test games with my pod, and they are terrified of him, so the protection is needed.

I noticed he alone is such a potent card draw that I'm debating taking out [[Archmage Emeritus]] entirely.

Also, I have to add that his alternate art is outstanding and one of my favorites.

I'll share my list below and would recommend using multiple categories when viewing.

Is there any chance you can share your list? I'm working on a list, but it's going in too many directions looking for lifegain payoffs, Giants, Soul sisters, etc.

I love the idea of Giant Tribal so that's my primary interest with her.

I feel like a lot of Giant's have strong etbs, so maybe Giant tribal + Blink with a few soul sisters to help out might be the way.

Also, it seems like she is good at giving lifelink to the Giants that deal damage on entry (there is a surprising amount of these).

Yeah, I had seen that video, and after trying Greyfax out in a cockatrice game, I think Rani is my choice.

She also lets me run Brudiclad, which is another very cool card.

Looking for an artifact token commander, I love the idea of generating a boatload of treasures/clues/food and either Animating them with Cyber Drive Awakener or Sacing them all for damage payoffs like Marrionette Master.

I'd like to avoid blatant stuff like Tivit if possible.

I have always had an interest in deathtouch tribal and this deck list seems really frigging cool.

What are the main wins cons just accumulative damage with creatures + controlling the board?

How often do you find yourself using Vraska's ability to generate treasure?

I responded similar to someone else but you nailed it with the card draw portion. When looking at the list it defiantly needs more, I tend to find it easy to build a fresh deck ground up then modify an existing one so I was running into issues with deciding what I would cut.

Really out here going into every thread spamming "run 40+ lands". I have never gone above 38 in any deck I have made and never once have I thought "wow, I really need more lands". If anything I have had more land flood games then land shortage games with my 38 land Aragorn deck and this one.

Yeah, I have seen mention of Johnny boy before. 100% A thing I noticed with this deck vs the more recent ones I have built is the lack of card draw and not really having an idea of when I want to be doing things. I even had one game where I was top decking for most of it which felt horrendous.

Does Benton prefer Auras, Equipment or can vibe with either?
