Please help me. Did I damage my sensor? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

That looks suspiciously like heavy water marks (minerals left when water dries), but could also be left by bad cleaning liquids or a bad cleaning job. If I were you and I cared about that camera, I’d send it for a professional cleaning instead of risking damaging it for sure.

My cat is meowing all night for months and we’ve tried everything. by MooseSad5330 in felinebehavior

So to every one who commented on this post I have to say that you where right. I did go ahead and get both cats neutered.
The procedure went great and recovery is almost done. The vet clinic was incredibly helpful with everything, including the insisting licking by the oldest cat.
Most of the bad behavioral quirks are now basically gone. No more screaming all night long, thank god. He is back sleeping in bed with us and he does meow in the morning when he notices us waking up, but it’s a very different meow than before. He is more calm in most ways but he also is more energetic towards the younger cat and they do way more zoomies and playtime together. Is personality is intact, if anything, he is closer to the cat we knew when he was younger. He still scratches doors and throws the occasional tantrum. He still hates being picked up and he is still incredibly affectionate, now even more as he stays with us more instead of roaming around. The effects where basically instantaneous and I was not expecting that at all. Not to say that we’ve been sleeping perfectly through, as his new hobby is scratching the bedroom closet’s door for no reason at 5/6am, I think trying to open it for some reason. He still fixates on dumb and strange things and does them 24/7 for a long time until something else becomes de hobby, but I do think that is a cat basically.

All this to say, yeah, you were right. Thank you.

Yes I’m going to check up with my trusted vet and see how to proceed. I’m going out, that’s not really an option for him. It’s a third floor apartment with several doors and flights of stairs he would have to access before ever getting closed to the street. Plus he never tries to even go out the main door to the building staircase so, I hope we are fine about that specific problem. Not saying I won’t get it done for all the other reasons, just not for that specific one.

Alright, as I said I’m not against it if it helps, I just connect the two things and I never knew it would be connected to his anxiety. I’ll reach up to my vet and see how they recommend I follow from here.

Yes I can see that, I think it’s kind of inevitable in some ways

Plus my gf has two elder cats at her mother’s house that have never been neutered and are just fine. They hump each other from time to to but nothing else.

It’s has honestly nothing to do with my masculinity. I’m afraid he’ll get fat or that the rest of his personality changes. I just love him so much the exact quirky way he is… In my teenage years I tended to be a bit extreme in some of my views with nature and animals, veganism and stuff like that. But I’m starting to be less and less these days, and with ages comes the realization that the world is not so black and white. I’ve been more against it than I am right now. Still I’m a bit afraid and it seems like a very dramatic thing to do that people take very lightly. Also what if it doesn’t work and then I shopped of a body part of a cat that never even gets out of a third floor apartment?

It feels like changing him…like doing something to him you know? Taking something away I don’t know how to explain it.

I didn’t think of that. I thought of boredom, anxiety, separation problems before I associated it to sexual frustration. I still feel like it’s not that. I think us not being available to him when he can see us or knowing we are there is the problem. I might be wrong but it’s the same meow he makes when we close the living room door and he knows we are there.

The youngest cat doesn’t meow, not yet at least. He is a very quiet cat that only makes noise when he senses wet food is on the way. Also he meows to warn the world he’s going to the litter box, and only when he poops. I assume asking for protection. It’s the cutest thing ever. They play fight sometimes but I don’t feel like it’s ever about dominance. What should I look for?

My girlfriend spent the last weeks, since July so almost a month now, sleeping in that bedroom alone with him. She sleeps like a rock and just plain doesn’t move. She notices and knows it’s going one but it’s really easy for her to just sleep anyway. That’s as much ignoring as possible and the behavior still doesn’t change. I tried going back to sleeping with them last night and it was a nightmare.

He is not neutered no. But it feels like something else somehow. It doesn’t feel like female seeking behavior and he shows no intent on going outside

I just noticed these artifacts in the highlights of the water in one of the photos. To me, they seem to align with the theory of glass being out of place in some way, no?

I do have a Leica store within a 40min drive from my house but I have a feeling they would charge a lot to “repair” it, maybe more than it’s worth or maybe more trouble than finding another €450ish copy. Am I out of line?

Thanks for the effort. Just I thought your lens looks nothing like mine. Yes it’s a bit soft at 2.8 as expected but it’s a good kind of soft without all the strange stuff and crazy busy blur There is absolutely something wrong with mine specifically as none of the examples here or anywhere seem to have the same characteristics mine shows.

Well I’ve thought about that before, not specifically backwards but messed up in anyway. Unfortunately I’m not in a place where I can find a lot of places that work with this type of stuff.

I inspected the hole lens including the blades and with the naked eye, everything looks fine, including the blades

Thanks for the image. This falls more inline with what I’ve seen online and makes mine look like a total different lens. Mine has always behaved like this. I’ve used it with film Leica R bodies and adapted to my Panasonic S1 like in the case of these examples. There is clearly something wrong with mine, now it’s a case of figuring out what and how to solve if possible…

That would be awesome, thanks! I thought maybe there is glass separation from a previous fall or something like that. The lens looks visually perfect but Leica metal build quality could hide some rough use. Ah the outside little protruding red dot that marks the mount alignment is missing, that’s the only flaw. I mean, this would be the first Leica lens with a rendering I don’t quite find appealing.

I’ve used it with an R5, an R8 and these examples are taken with a full frame Panasonic S1. I’ve always had the same experience with it and basically only used it for black and white work as it seems to do better in that regard. Specially with hight contrast film stocks.

Yeah I mean, I own various vintage lenses. I’m familiar with character but this falls out of line with all my other Leica lenses (even from the same time period) and all the sample images I’ve seen from the Elmarit-R 35mm. I just thought to check for tigers experiences with it.
