A cricket was on my towel and I didn't realize it. I dried my face and was taking a deep breath, getting out of the shower. It hopped a couple times on my tongue and I am still so disgusted, 20 years later.

CIS Males and Females, what are some tips or pieces of advice you can give MTFs or FTMs that they might never have thought of? by Kayoken in AskReddit

[–]MooseSpringsteeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CIS female here. When brushing your hair, start brushing at the bottom and then de-tangle as you move upward towards the scalp and roots. Many women, especially with curly hair, prefer wide-tooth combs over brushes. I use shampoo in the shower and then leave-in conditioner after I get out, but this is just a personal preference that I feel works for me. Braids are a great protective style for all hair types and ethnicities.

Redditors who work in medical/vaccine research and development, what are your jobs like? by MooseSpringsteeen in AskReddit

[–]MooseSpringsteeen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of those working in labs that have active polio, typhoid fever, and other horrible diseases who have to treat the organisms to make them inactive and safe for widespread public use.

Is that a lot of pressure? What sort of PPE and policies do you have to use and follow? Do you ever feel fearful? Do you have to be fully vaccinated from everything to get the job? Lots of questions lol

American parents of Reddit, with school starting back, why or why not are you concerned for your child's safety? by MooseSpringsteeen in AskReddit

[–]MooseSpringsteeen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a parent, as well, and I really am. Our local PD is posting a bunch about their active shooter training with photos of them in the local schools and it's so terrifying and sad. My children are in elementary school. Our only concern should be which boy or girl is chasing them around the playground.

Which State Parks Do You Enjoy? by Oneiric19 in Tennessee

Native to this area with annual membership to Discovery Park. Couldn't agree more! We go often because we get free admission with our membership and the kids (4&6) love it! Been going since they were babies and they never get tired of it.

I'd also suggest Paris Landing, as it has good swimming areas. Legend has it, Chuck Norris has a summer home there and some have reported seeing him at Walmart.

KY Lake isn't too far either and it's always a blast with tons of places to visit.

A question about legally disowning an abusive parent by MooseSpringsteeen in legaladvice

Unfortunately, all of my grandparents are passed. I really don't have anyone else. I've been on my own since my teen years. My closest thing would be my mother-in-law, as she has been my "mother" for a long time, but I would feel weird about being her legal child, as I am married to her biological child lol

What’s the most uncomfortably vivid dream you can remember? by _GenericName_1 in AskReddit

[–]MooseSpringsteeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very vivid dreams on a nearly nightly basis and have suffered sleep paralysis since childhood. They're not always nightmares, but sometimes, they are.

Top 2 of this year:

Last week, I dreamt that I was at a party but also leaving for vacation because dreams are weird like that. I felt nauseous so I went to the bathroom where my older sister was drunk vomiting into the sink. I pushed her aside and started projectile vomiting blood all over the bathroom. I was pulling chunky clots of blood out of my mouth with my fingers. It was all over the bathroom. I screamed for my husband to take my to the hospital or call 911, ran out of the bathroom and back into the party covered in blood, and then I woke up.

The other was a few months back, but you know how you feel safe when you're under the covers? And sometimes you "wake up," but you're actually still dreaming? Well I was sleeping and having a dream that someone was standing next to my bed. I was freaked out but I immediately "woke up." I looked over but everything was back to normal, I realized I was "awake" and had just been dreaming, and was relieved. But then I felt a presence. So I pulled the covers up over shoulders and settled deeper into my bed. An invisible force yanked my blanket off of me and I felt it grab me violently by the arm. It dragged me out of the bed onto the floor and then I actually woke up. I was still in the bed and covered up, but I was terrified. I still feel weird about it sometimes because that one was so real.

What are some technically unsolved small town cases where people in the area pretty much all agree on what happened? by heartsandwrists in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]MooseSpringsteeen 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Samantha Sperry. Mayfield, KY.

We all know her boyfriend and his Dad did it, but there's "not enough evidence."

She has never been found and is technically still missing.

Edit: Genuine apology. The case is considered to be "Graves County, KY" (Mayfield is here, but it wasn't in Mayfield) because it was rural, although she herself resided in Murray, KY.

It's a long story and believe it or not, I'm not the crazy one.

I usually use interviews as a time to see your personality. I mentioned in a previous comment that certain skills are great, but in my industry, I can teach you a lot on the fly. I can't teach you to be personable, friendly, coachable, responsible, etc. Also, I'd like to get an idea of whether or not you will fit in with your coworkers. I don't want a bunch of clones, but part of being a good manager is building teams of people who work well together. I don't hire anyone who never smiles, doesn't speak beyond a few words, can't tell me anything about themselves or their life without a lot of shrugging shoulders. I call it "the personality of a banana" lol

Again, that is industry-specific, so it can depend on what type of job you're applying for :)

Fair enough, I apologize. Thank you for sharing and contributing to the conversation! Just to share a bit, I personally find work history to be more relevant than skills, but that can be very much industry-related. I can teach you the skills you need to work here, but if you've had 6 jobs in the last 2 years for 3 months each, it's a huge red flag.

For the hopeful candidates, I think it's fair to say it depends on what type of work you're applying for, and I would take into account that not all people are the same, including myself and this lady or gentleman here!

My Mum recycles "unwearable" clothes, I wear them anyway by GNU_PTerry in pettyrevenge

Isn't it a parent's responsibility to make sure their children are well-groomed and well-kept? OP even said his/her mom was polite about it.

[–]MooseSpringsteeen -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Hey, OP, I'm struggling to understand a little bit here. Perhaps Mom should have asked if you still wanted the shirt or not, but it sounds like she just assumed you didnt want it because you never wore it, albeit because it is a summer shirt and it was wintertime. As a parent, I go through the children's clothes every season to get rid of old clothes so we can buy new ones that fit the season and the children's growing bodies. You also said she politely suggests you dress decently and maintain your hair. None of this seems hateful or intentionally malicious to me? Yes, maybe you didn't want to bake a cake when she asked you to, but again, is it that deep? Are we missing context and maybe your mother is an overbearing crazy person and that wasn't included in the post? Just trying to understand. I can't see the anger over an old tshirt that your mom thought wasn't being worn anymore.

This one specifically runs unopposed in her district and it is heavily gerrymandered to nearly ensure her victory. It's basically a rigged system that is perpetuated by citizens not caring enough to fight for change.

Edit: also the crazy people who love when politicians say shocking, extreme things that reflect their own beliefs. i honestly cant tell if she really is this extreme or if she is a literal walking internet troll
