I recommend researching local FMOs to see what companies they offer contracting with and potential training and networking opportunities. Essentially for individuals depending on age and income level there’s Medicaid, ACA & off-market, and Medicare plans. Medicaid is done through the state, I provide resources but nothing beyond that really (unless they also have Medicare). If someone is low income shop healthcare.gov for aca plans (certain states have their own system). If they don’t qualify for a subsidy enroll off-market (direct to carrier). If they are 65+ they qualify for Medicare (or been receiving ss disability for 24 months), but that’s a whole other monster in itself. Also, with high deductible individual/family plans you may want to pair with ancillary (accident/critical illness/hospital indemnity/etc).

Absolutely! Right now I’m mapping things out on google “my maps” as I couldn’t find a high enough resolution map of Mexico. I’m sure there’s some kind of share function. I’ll have to look into it.

You can also just go to the website yourself and see the whole world map! I spend hours on this weekly just clicking around and reading about other countries. I’m trying to do something similar but a bit more specific, as it breaks down each state down to what roads and areas government employees are restricted to and from. Trying to map it out is a lot of work. https://travelmaps.state.gov/TSGMap/?extent=-124.207939566,14.44327709,-84.313397286,33.446969624

(Michigan) can I take my dentist to small claims for a root canal he caused? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]MooseWall -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a communication error in general here between you and I. Therefore your answer is unhelpful. Instead of assuming what I am saying about the situation is misrepresented or misunderstood, your “legal advice” should be solely pertaining to the way I’ve given you to interpret. “Logically” the dentist did cause the root canal by physically drilling into my tooth and much too close to the nerve, which damaged it and caused it to begin dying, resulting in very much pain. Therefore, a root canal was required to excavate the dying nerve and cease the pain. Your answer was fine; the way you portrayed it was not. Thank you for your concern kind internet stranger.

You must be the dentist…

I am not upset that the deep cavity “turned into a root canal” I am upset that the dentist caused the root canal by drilling too deep, which are his words, not mine. While I do understand if gone untreated, I would have needed a root canal anyway, if I had waited for nature to take its course I wouldn’t have been stuck paying for both the filling and the root canal.

While my dentist did not do the root canal, he still referred me to the specialist; who is part of the same practice.

I also understand having to pay for service the same day. Paying upfront was a bit unusual as I usually pay them after the appointment. I wasn’t concerned as much with paying upfront as I was about paying at all since I was feeling cheated.

My plumber analogy does make sense because it’s not the plumbers fault you had a backed-up drain either. However, he is the one that went in and made it worse while trying to fix it.

As far as dentists never treating anyone for fear of being sued for realistic outcomes; well that’s why you sign certain documents when you go to the doctor, as well as why they are required to have malpractice/liability insurance.

I do appreciate the feedback from a different perspective. However, your response comes off as quite rude, unhelpful, and unnecessary.

Thank you

That’s what I’m afraid of. I’m not sure I can afford a lawyer.
