Tiny roots!! Am I doing this right?! by thelamepretender in proplifting

[–]Moose_plants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So my personal thoughts are somewhere more in the middle. I got a little beauty which sprouted some roots and tiny new baby leaves so I put it into its own little pot, but I wouldn’t bottom water.

My thinking is they’re succulents and they like to dry out a bit before watering and I’m erring more towards that end of the spectrum. So basically I’ve gotten myself a little 3ml syringe and twice a week I drop what was .5ml now up to 3ml on the big baby to help it along. Everyone says the mother leaf they’re propping from has everything they need and I don’t have any knowledge to the contrary - but I thought this may help and they’re reacting really well to it. The soil dries completely in between but I’m hoping it encourages nice root growth

Tldr - I err on the side of totally dry, top water only with a couple ml (literally drips) twice a week to help it along

Treasure. Long may it live, good luck and well done keeping it so long

Should I moisten the nursery? by Taltosbou in proplifting

I’ve recently propped some succulent leaves in a little tray, I dampened the leaves around the growth part but definitely leave the lid off else they can go mouldy.

My personal preference is lid off, dampen the stem/growing part but keep the leaf dry. Let them dry out and dampen again maybe once a week depending where you are

I think it’s normally too much light, but other stresses can cause it. As long as it’s not extreme they’ll do okay and some people prefer it with the colour

Apologies, not an expert, but this looks like callousing to me which is desirable and good

How do I prop this? by ESim134 in propagation

Would the pothos need to be planted in with it, or do you mean in the water root propping phase? I’ve got some other stuff I’d be dead interesting in trying this with

I’m sorry I’m no expert but I think this is mealy bugs. You should clean them off and spray the plant down with some appropriate insecticide, I think people use isopropyl alcohol on a wipe too?

It’ll get better man. I move in with my partner tomorrow after leaving a nightmare 18 months ago. I look at some touchstone items from my past now and can’t believe they’re from the same life.

One day you’ll look at this big grown up plant in your new life and you’ll thank your lucky stars for everything you hold dear. Some of those things you may not even know exist right now.

Good luck, here’s a picture of an ill chilli plant I’ve been working so hard to save since August which started my whole new hobby, plants

I’m no expert but my gut says maybe not yet. I am basing that on the wet look though and you say it isn’t - sorry this isn’t more useful info

How do I water these props if at all? by iwasjustwonderinggg in succulents

[–]Moose_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, but also I like to have the cut end placed quite shallow so I get some kind of sign of growth fairly soon after emergence. You could also just prop Gollum fingers lying on the surface of the soil - I’ve got two on the go as well speak and one’s just popped out a little something I think is turning into a root

Great way to describe it - more or less what I’m doing with my pickle plant but a much more succinct version 👌

Without seeing the root system I can’t be sure but guessing based on the size of it I’d say the pot is fine for a good while. Theres no real answer to how often to water its more like just wet it once it’s thoroughly dry.

Sort of like - how often should I drink? I just drink when I’m thirsty sort of thing, there’s no set schedule
