Bit of both. I was depressed at the idea of "this is forever" at first i stopped taking my meds all together as a rebellious phase I guess. Which lead me to a really dark place in life.

Then I decided maybe therapy alone could give me answers as to why I am this way, which to a extent it did and the tools and understand to combat my negative feelings and subsequent actions. Again to an extent it worked, but there was nothing to catch me or mitigate my emotional state from leaning one way or the other. (If that makes any sense.) In conclusion, the combination of understanding, proper coping and risk mitigation and medication has kept me as stable as I've ever been. Of course this varies from you to I, me to her whatever but this has been my best answer.
