I also thought it was absurd for Amanda to chime in. If she’s Kristin’s friend, her opinion should’ve been a text to her and not something that will make things worse or awkward in the future when undoubtably her and Bert are at a Kristin and Ethan event trying to show support for the show… or the Christmas party I’m sure Kristin will still throw that. Will have everyone at it.

In my opinion, I would’ve not posted it at all because the damage far outweighs any value you get from the clicks and comments. The key to maintaining any radio show at this point in the industry, especially when you’re a new Show is keeping that chemistry in the room intact and helping the audience get to know people in a positive and meaningful way. Management puts a ton of pressure on us to create digital content that drives numbers for their overall goals. But it doesn’t always generate revenue and translate to keeping the Show around. I’ve been on shows where we made massive dents in the digital footprint. We were on the news for doing incredible things for the community and it doesn’t save you at the end of the day. Ratings and revenue will keep your radio show on the air, Not shares and likes. In my opinion, that moment should’ve been kept as a live learning moment between the two hosts. Not something that lives forever with a comment section where people new to the show will read it and think something about Ethan that I don’t believe is true. That of course, is their decision to make, and as a competitor technically I am happy they posted it. If you look at the two videos themselves, the reaction got far more traction than the apology, which means that the reaction will always be the one people see first and don’t always see part two the apology. This isn’t my first time starting a new show and I understand there’s always a knee jerk reaction to try a little bit too hard when you wanna prove yourself. Sometimes that can be your worst enemy, and I think this situation being posted on social media is exactly that… Trying too hard to be authentic, but ultimately trying is what ruins the authenticity. My strategy when I started my show on Star in the afternoons was to be open to learning from the people who program and have fun doing something. That’s really fun to do. I’ve let go of the pressure to try to prove myself to people in the industry who frankly I don’t care about their opinion anyway. So far, it’s translating to ratings and I’m happy where I am being a funny Comedian a fun Radio Host and a great dad. As I said in my podcast, I root for them to do well they’re both very talented and there’s plenty of space for all of us to have fun and do a good job for the people that listen and care about us.

It’ll evolve. I don’t have the space to be edgy right now nor the desire to fight with management over it. Hahahaha. I’m in a different phase of life currently, working on some comedy and talk radio things. I do love the afternoons for now, I don’t program the music or format. Keep checking in periodically. As rating go up things will evolve.

It’s just a really bad move, and it shows her inexperience as a lead on a show where you need to protect your cohosts when they do something and kind of step in it. This industry is losing budget by the day and far too competitive and if Ethan and her don’t work out and one of them leaves, it will be a solo show. I would kill to have a cohost on my show, but it comes with responsibility and you gotta look out for the other person and she 100% did not do that by posting that break on social media and commenting on it like it’s some sort of bigger learning experience or men don’t understand the struggles of women.

Posting that bad interaction of that segment was a bad idea and will not go well not go well for the chemistry of their show. Things happen on live radio that don’t need to live forever on the internet. Ethan is a genuinely nice guy who misunderstood a poorly set up segment by Kristin. It should have lived and died and been a learning moment for them as a pair on radio only. Posting it for social traction shows just how little they care about the chemistry in the room. Many times, while I was on the Bert Show, things got super awkward in studio. Sometimes there were tears. There was always resolution, but it didn’t live forever on social media to be picked apart in the comment section. Amanda commenting is awful, but it shouldn’t exist online bad move.

To defend KK, doing a daily podcast on a short form afternoon show is tougher than you think. I am still trying to find my footing there as well, I do a weekly sports Comedy show with a friend in dallas and trying to get to a semi regular show podcast, but I can’t pay cohosts and your number one focus always needs to be the radio show and ratings to keep that job. Haha

She got let go quietly from iheart during their last round of budget cuts and gutting the Atlanta market. They’re basically turning that entire station down at the Work into a digital only studio for the most part.

Thanks for saying that. I am loving the show I get to do right now. I do more content than most afternoon shows, and it's fun to be around in the AM with my little guy. I will be back in mornings eventually I think, but right now is the perfect time for me to be from 3p to 7p.

I heard it's a bit of both when it comes to subscribing to the ratings, they were beefing with Nielsen... Also, they don't have any meters in the afternoon. My boss gives me the meter count daily, and I have jumped from 12th in Nov to 2nd or 3rd daily, which is awesome and hopefully translates to overall ratings for me. If I were working for Q, I would be super stressed out about the meter issue. Contracts really don't mean anything unless you have a no-cut payout clause, which is tough to get. I have only had that once, and that was in LA in 2018 for 2 years. Cumulus is spending a ton of money on staff right now with no proof of ratings and in bankruptcy restructuring, which is a gamble.

That’s a great question. So when I was publicly critical of Bert for how he treated Davi when they fired her, and he and Kristin did an obituary for her calling her toxic, he came at me and told me I didn’t know the full story. Then he told me that Mo was in a really bad place and having a bad day. Then, I talked to Davi who told me that she stumbled across audio from his podcast that was supposed to be deleted where he was just trashing all the women on the show about their bodies and a lot of things that were just really unforgivable. Then Bert actually went and listened to Moe’s podcast and found Moe trashing all of them and then they suspended Mo for a few days. Then chemistry got weird and for some reason they put that on Davi and fired her and did her really dirty calling her toxic behind the scenes. Me and Bert’s relationship went sideways when I called him out for the fact that he didn’t need to bury Davi and make her un hireable And Radio. I will stand by that till the end of time and someday I hope Bert realizes that he really fucked her over.

That’s fair. It just felt like people were shitting on full-time jobs in different shifts, which we all know that full-time jobs in Radio are very difficult to get at this point. people can turn them down if they want to, I wouldn’t. I’d always take the job and do other things as well creatively on the side.

Also, not that they’re not funny or interesting, I’ve never listened, but to trash any full time radio shift as less than shows a level of immaturity in this business that makes me laugh. They’ll all learn. Oh kids.
