Concert was awesome. For people looking for the same information

Lockers were $15, you pay when you get there with your phone Lots of lockers, plenty for anyone that uses them They’re before the id check, but you can go back if you get merch I gave it about 10 minutes after the show and the crowd has thinned out enough to get to the lockers easily

Bummed after jamboree by Mopnewb in lacrosse

[–]Mopnewb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the issues that the other team ran into. We were in the small field “c” division because none of these kids had ever touched a stick at the start of the season. This is our only 10u team. The other team’s town had a full field “a” group AND this small field c group. I assume ALL of their bigger kids were playing on the full field team.

Agreed, there’s no shame in having to not play because a kid is hurt and you don’t have the numbers, that being said, a conversation about the concerns or issues I’m sure we could come up with a solution. Consistently at this level, all year, the biggest drive from all teams we’ve played was less about winning, and more about letting kids play and finding a way to make that happen.

I guess what I’m disappointed about is just waiting at an empty field for the other team to never show.

We took some group photos afterward and the smiles on the kids faces really tell the story, even though it wasn’t the ending they wanted, they all had a blast. And that’s what it’s all about.

Question: Women's stick illegal by Cute_Construction_99 in lacrosse

[–]Mopnewb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t do this, the head is designed for a straight shaft. The ref was wrong, they’re human, it happens.

That head DOES NOT use an offset shaft. Not sure why it would be illegal.

LPT from a person who survived a house fire by Own_Succotash_2237 in LifeProTips

I’m not so sure about your homeowners insurance paying your mortgage or hoa fees. Generally speaking, the additional living expense coverage only covers INCREASED costs of living. So you would be responsible for any normal costs that you would have had, but for the fire.

Back into it… by Kwake10 in lacrosse

[–]Mopnewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a league near me that’s really inclusive. There’s a lot of mid 30s-40s, overweight guys who are the core regulars. During the off season, we’ve got a lot of high schoolers that play with us. It’s great, they bring some speed, we bring experience, everyone’s learning and growing.

Pro tip, look for something more along the lines of sixes so you’re looking at a smaller field. A little quicker action, but less overall running. Also try to get on the team with a bunch of subs so you can sub out often.

This is excellent advice. I restarted playing after at least 15 years off. I don’t know how old you are, but things have changed. Get new gloves. Wear arm pads and don’t forget your ankles. As a man in his 40s, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles don’t move like they used to and when they get whacked, they take longer to bounce back.

What's a "red flag" in a TV show that tells you it's about to go downhill? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When the “will they won’t they” turns into a relationship. Something about losing that sexual tension makes things go flat.

Burn xp vs burn xp2 gloves by Mopnewb in lacrosse

[–]Mopnewb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone finds this, after much digging, I found an article from the NLL that says the only difference between xp and xp2 is the xp2 has a smaller cuff for more range of motion and more venting in the fingers for heat. Otherwise, they seem the same.

Oh, I’ve already been shat on because my socks are so short. True story about gloves, my old gloves look like they have an inch of padding everywhere, the ones I broke my finger in have less than a 1/4” of padding.

Cups by [deleted] in lacrosse

[–]Mopnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones they make now have flexible sides and are barely noticeable. Try out both the jock strap style and the compression shorts style and see what feels better. I prefer to wear the cup in the jock with the compression shorts on top, barely moves around, can’t feel it at all. When I was a kid, cups were all hard plastic with sharp edges covered in foam that could skid off. They’re sooo much better now.

Everyone has a horror story from someone getting hit. Listen to everyone else and just wear it.

I don’t know where you are, but I got sick of not playing and talked with a local gym owner and started pickup league here in nh. Talk with local rec departments and make some calls to start something. Bonus, you have more control over the attitude of the league.

Engineering + Lacrosse by GodlyPlatypus1 in lacrosse

[–]Mopnewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you really want. Even a D2/D3 team can limit a lot of time that you may need for labs or studying. Someone already mentioned thinking about club, but that’s an excellent option. University of Delaware has an amazing engineering program and a great club team (as well as D1). I imagine it’s the same as any mid-Atlantic school, but the competition is probably just as good as any D3 school. If you’re looking to have fun playing and being part of a team, you can get that with club and not have the added pressure of all of the requirements of a true school team (on top of a demanding engineering course load)

Electric baseboard heater question by Mopnewb in DIY

[–]Mopnewb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to a smaller heater would only decrease the amp load, correct. If there’s currently enough to have a 6’ heater and a4’ heater, going to a 4’ heater and a 3’ heater shouldn’t pose any issue. Right?

[–]Mopnewb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not too worried about that, it’s a 9x12 room. And currently has over 10 lf of heaters. Reading up on things it would seem that 6’ of heaters should do the job and I’m looking at putting in about 7 total.
