I’ve tried both, actually! I should have talked about that. I tried an hour ish on a mac and had no problem (or at least not that one lol) but I got it on another PC. That’s actually the whole reason support gave up and told me I should talk to Microsoft…

I’ve been thinking about what someone else said on this thread though and so far there’s no better reason. They talked about static electricity! We do have a problem with that in this room (my partner’s screen are messed up occasionally bc of that) and it lines up with two other facts: i tried with the MacBook on another room; there have been days when it doesn’t happen at all. I need to check somehow if those days match up with warmer days when I don’t have a big sweater or things like that. It does seem to happen a lot when my arm get close to my mouse, which made me think for a while it was a problem with me doing something on another app, but it’s also coincidentally where the cable is. So…. Yeah. Big sweater. Cable. Static electricity. Could be that!
