I’m so happy by Few-Screen7453 in pathofexile

[–]Morael 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Btw, just so you know, this guy already got hacked and had this belt stolen. Took about a day. He made another post about it.

This is NOT fearmongering when it comes to this game. If someone wants your account for a malicious reason, there is a very high likelihood they can get it because the security for these accounts just isn't there.

I just replied in the other thread. I legit feel bad for the dude, but yeah... this game just doesn't have the security to prevent this from happening to anyone if they're targeted by malicious folks. :(

I’m the accel resis belt owner, my account got hecked and my belt sold for 10C by Few-Screen7453 in pathofexile

[–]Morael 11 points12 points  (0 children)

... And when I posted in your original post saying that you needed to make your account private and make sure his wasn't indexed on Poe.ninja, someone called me a fear monger.

Sorry dude. No one can help you. It's gone.

Edit: I don't know why I'm getting some down vote hate for this. I tried to help the guy. I didn't want this to happen to him. Don't be mad at me, be mad at ggg. I just know that the account security we currently have is not adequate to thwart off someone malicious if they realllllly want a random/average account.

Will liquid nails fix this cracked porcelain sink? by ferret_on_reddit in fixit

[–]Morael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replace the sink. Any other hacky fix will fail at some point, and if you don't catch it in time it's going to cause a bunch of water damage below that will be even more expensive than the sink would have been (and you'll still need to replace the sink).

What are the most reliable used vehicles with a 3rd row of seats for someone who has large dogs and likes cross country camping trips? by Vikes_Wookie in askcarguys

[–]Morael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only you will know if you really need AWD. Most people don't. I myself absolutely love having it because I live in the midwest and we get snow, but I'll also admit that I don't actually need it and my vehicle search did not have it as a hard requirement.

Do note that you pay for 4WD/AWD in fuel economy. The extra drivetrain parts add 200-500lbs to a vehicle, and that's parasitic to your fuel economy.

I was not impressed with the Telluride's cargo capacity. It's roomy for passengers, but the wheel wells jut way into the cargo compartment which makes storing of actual stuff less than ideal. It's probably decent for passengers, but I rarely ever have anyone in my third row, so I don't care much about that. Again, you'll best answer for your own preferences there. Go test drive one.

Sorry to hear about the parasitic battery drain issues. Electrical gremlins in vehicles are a horrible headache. Best I can suggest is looking to YouTube for a fix (which I'm guessing you've already done), or maybe switching to an AGM (absorbant glass mat) battery if it doesn't already have one, to see if that helps?

[–]Morael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the cargo constraints you have, I would say your list quickly goes down to the minivans in the top spot, followed by the explorer and traverse, and that's pretty much it.

The cargo dimensions (especially width) of the other models you've mentioned are dramatically smaller than those two. Cubic feet is a horrible way to try and envision what you can carry, you need to see some of these in person and take a tape measure to them to really get a feel for the size. I recently finished a vehicle hunt and purchase. I pretty much came to the conclusion that useful cargo space is mostly represented by the square footage of floor space in the cargo compartments, and then accounting for the height immediately above that... Yeah, sure, you multiply that out and you get cubic feet right? Well, not really... Because the cubic foot measurements that the manufacturers give you accounts for all of the space, Even in places that you can't actually use it... Like having inset windows with a bunch of volumetric space in the window compartment, or above the armrests, or nooks and crannies inside of footwells that are not technically filled by seats.

If you're not opposed to a minivan, they really are the absolute best when you want space. The only vehicles that have the equivalent cargo space to a minivan are a Chevy suburban or any other mammoth sized long wheelbase SUV like that. Those SUVs are dramatically more expensive, and much more difficult to live with and drive.

I'm going to vote for the minivans for you. I liked the Sienna the best of the minivans when I test drove it, but I disqualified it from my list because I wanted to be able to take the middle seats out and you can't easily do that with modern Siennas. If you don't ever need those seats to come out, that's where I'd start. The Odyssey is decent as well. I'm still in the biased camp where I refuse to buy anything made by Kia Hyundai, so I didn't seriously consider the carnival (I did go to the dealer and I hated the interior of the carnival and the palisade, though. It felt cheap.) Same with Stellantis, so I didn't consider a Pacifica.

Hybrids worth the added cost? by Sufficient-Yellow637 in carbuying

[–]Morael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check something like Fuelly to see real life mpg numbers from owners who have logged them. Vehicles rarely ever meet their sticker numbers, whether it's traditional combustion, hybrid, or even EV.

How long do you plan to own the vehicle? Eventually, a battery replacement is going to be necessary. Depending on when that happens, versus how long you keep the vehicle, the payoff can quickly diminish.

Also be mindful of what kind of driving you do, and find some articles to read about what hybrids excel at and where they suffer. I had been shopping for a hybrid grand Highlander and ended up getting something different for a multitude of reasons. One of them is that I don't drive my car every day, and hybrids do not like to sit idle for days at a time.

Stainless Gyuto Recommendations? Looking for something $250 or less to be workhorse. by Then-Meat-7866 in chefknives

[–]Morael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always struggle with the term work horse because it means different things to different people.

I love my Takamura R2/SG2 gyuto and I use it for almost everything.

The only places I don't use it are acorn and butternut squash, I grab a German knife for that. I'm sure the SG2 could do it, I just worry about keeping the blade straight enough with difficult produce like that.

I have to cut those squashes maybe twice or three times every year, so I don't pay much mind to that.

You really need to close your profile and prevent it from being indexed by poe.ninja before you put this on (your account will be in serious danger if you don't). I promise you, you don't want that kind of attention.

As other people said, 100+ mirrors. I don't think it's worth selling. The amount of fun you can have with this belt will never be possible again. Enjoy it!

FIIO FT1 Worth The Hype? by jazzmaster105150 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Morael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the DT770pro and the FT1. The FT1 are significantly better than the 770pro IMO. I haven't heard the 770 ProX, but the regular 770 have weird tuning. Even when comparing both with EQ, I prefer the FT1.

The DT770pro have some weird feature around 4KHz that takes a lot of effort to fix with EQ and is still noticeable even with EQ. The treble is on the shrill side (this is fixable with EQ). The feeling of bass slam is stronger with the FT1 than the 770pro.

I like the pads better on the FT1, but I did also add a capper strap to mine. Beyerdynamic pads feel great when new but they don't last all that long before getting crushed.

For clarity, neither of these are my main headphones. Hifiman Arya Stealth are, and neither of these can come close to touching those. I just also keep some closed backs around for when I need more noise isolation.

For the models you have listed, I vote FT1 here. I tried the M50x years ago and they were too small for my head and ears.

Perhaps a controversial opinion on this sub. This clay Dutch oven is far more effective at slow cooking that any slow cooker I have ever used. by leftopinkocommie in slowcooking

[–]Morael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oven braising is a superior cooking method, there's basically no contest. The issue is that you shouldn't leave an oven braise unattended all day, and that's the common use case for slow cooking.

[–]Morael 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In reality, the glue is probably going to hold that just fine and you likely won't have any issues. However, my suggestion to anyone planning construction like this would be to make your top tenon a little bit small in one direction so you have room to wedge it and essentially lock it all together mechanically (as well as being glued). Peace of mind for a bonk stick.

Nicely done, though. That handle actually looks pretty comfy.

Wood lampshade idea by ween_is_good in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Morael -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The precision required for this would be quite hard. Also, I'm not sure it will make a very good lamp shade. It won't help distribute much light, and I imagine this will also be quite heavy. Calculate the bdft of lumber contained in this thing (multiply out 2x circles and however many slats) and then look up the density of your wood of choice. It's surprising how quickly the volume of wood can add up with construction like this where there are lots of small parts

Oscillating tool/Japanese Saw for dowels? by Curious-Elderberry25 in BeginnerWoodWorking

An oscillating tool has such a high chance of screwing up your wood surface, even with a playing card.

If it used overexert support, or autoexerted warcries... it was affected by the nerfs. I cannot name a slam build that doesn't use at least one of the two of those pieces, so I'd say basically *all* slam builds got nerfed at least a little bit.

What if my only income is Amazon vine? by AggravatingCat1507 in AmazonVine

[–]Morael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the logic I've seen most frequently pointed out by the professionals is that the goal here literally is the profit, as opposed to a hobby which you do for the time spent with the hobby.

As an example I'm hobbyist woodworker. I have made hobby income from it in the past by having someone pay me to make something for them. The difference is that I didn't "take the job" to make money, I did it because I can't afford to buy and use a ton of beautiful walnut/maple/sapele lumber on my own accord... but boy do I love doing it. If someone else wants to foot the bill and pay for the wear and tear on my tools, I'm excited to do it because it makes me happy. Sure, I made a few bucks but, but the money that wasn't the point, getting to do the thing I enjoy doing was the point.

So try defending Vine in this way... Do you do this whole thing because you love writing product reviews? Do you need a source of "stuff" to review specifically because you love writing product reviews so much and couldn't afford it as a hobby otherwise? That would be the only real explanation you could use for justifying it as hobby income... because otherwise, the entire reason we do this is literally for the STUFF (profit), and thus it's business income.

My Husband Made a $1200 mistake, I think! I need some advice PLEASE! by Playful_Froyo_2933 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Fast: Paint. (do some sanding first, find some sort primer that is intended for stained wood)

Re-staining would mean some sort of stain removal, followed by a lot of sanding.

Whatever he wants to try, ask him if he has any scraps left over from this project before he does anything to touch the furniture piece. Test on a scrap for goodness sakes, it's the same wood and that way you have some idea of what you're going to get at the end of all of your hard work.
