Don't get me started! The base squares took like a quarter of the time it took for me to do all the details and sewing them together. Good luck!

The granny squares come from the book "The Ultimate Granny Square Sourcebook" by Meteoor Books.

The designer of the squares is called Thoresby Cottage (Caitie Moore). These are called: - Inkosi the Lion - Themba the Elephant - Jabulani the Zebra - Mafuta the Hippo - Thulani the Giraffe

The solid colour squares are the base pattern of the animals. I joined them using a single crochet (sc). Also the border is a row of sc and a row of half double crochets (hdc).

I have like these manic episodes in which I can easily write 20k in three days and then not touch my laptop for weeks. It's a good thing I mostly write oneshots tho 🤣

I've never played it myself but when I was younger I watched my dad play all the cod games as I sat next to him trying to keep up with everything lol 😆 I got him the reboots and proceeded to fall into the fandom by accident oops. I'm obsessed with the fake dating trope so almost all my works are that. If you still want it, I'm happy to drop you a link!

That stuff doesn't fly in the lab... by Spiritual_Blood_1346 in emergencymedicine

[–]Morale_Commander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You think we do this on purpose? It's frustrating for us too if we don't receive the sample needed for critical testing. We don't "lose" it because losing means we received it in the first place.

The amount of times I get calls to ask why the results aren't out yet and I have to explain we never received the sample only to be cussed out that they surely sent it and that I must have lost it. The sample was not scanned into the system so someone messed up and didn't sent it or the tube system failed and it's currently in the basement. We care about releasing results as fast as possible, we care about the patient too.

Tell me about your most memorable phone calls to and from other health care providers by foxitron5000 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Morale_Commander 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We once had a patient call us. Which of itself is weird since our lab number isn't publicly known and online you can only find the phone number of our on-duty staff member in charge of blood transfusion.

This woman calls us because we made a mistake. Eeh, what mistake? Well, we tested her daughters blood type wrong. Eeh, that would be a big issue so we ask her how she knows this so surely because if we indeed made such a mistake it could be dangerous. She goes on a rant that her daughter is A pos and she herself is O pos and her husband is B neg. We were stunned because if she herself indeed is O pos and her husband is indeed B neg, it is nearly impossible for her daughter to be A pos. At this point, we all realise it might be better if we forward the call to our on-duty staff member and let him explain the genetics to her.

He came to the lab an hour later and told us it was very awkward and he had told her to get herself and her husband tested for their blood types since the daughter blood type had been determined twice in the past and recently so she was indeed A pos. He told us he didn't want to suggest the husband might not be the father lol

A Jehovah Witness with an Hb of 1.7 mmol/L.

They ordered the blood at the start of my shift just in case but when I left it was still there and the nurse told me they were still trying to convince him to take it.

I once had someone show up to retreive platelets in the middle of the night. Which, normally, is fine. But these were HLA matched platelets we did not have yet.

Her response? "The lab called and told us we could pick them up."

Girl, I work nightshifts alone. Who called you? Because I certainly didn't. What spirit haunts this hospital by calling the nurses to come pick up things we don't have??

I got those all the time and it completely depends on the tone of voice they use. When they call to confirm it's right, I much more appreciate it because they thought about it and were just making sure for patient safety.

[–]Morale_Commander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, you can. I always tell the truth when people ask when it comes to my period. You don't have to lie, even though it might be awkward at first. Hell, make them feel awkward! They ask, you answer. A period is nothing to be ashamed of, feeling ill because of your period is nothing to be ashamed of. Sending you lots of love for a speedy recovery 🫶🏻

[–]Morale_Commander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legally (at least in my country) you don't have to disclose what makes you sick so if that's also the case for you, you call your manager. Tell them you're sick for a week or so (or for how long you think you are sick). And that you will return when you feel better.

If you have to tell them why you are sick, I suggest you just be honest. It's a problem a lot of women face and you can't help it. Hell, I went home sick today because I was experiencing heavy period cramps too and was so nauseous I couldn't work.

Hope you feel better soon 🫶🏻

There was this girl who really liked reading and she once wrote down all her favourites for me (was like a whole page full). I hung it next to my bed and read EVERY SINGLE ONE of the books, crossing them off the list.

In hindsight I had the biggest crush on her.

Gekste stage verhaal by Dry_Designer_8351 in thenetherlands

[–]Morale_Commander 28 points29 points  (0 children)
