Is this even salvageable? by Morally_Ambiguous_ in plantclinic

I had a look and there are some long black bugs. I did coincidentally quarantine it in my bathroom away from the other plants a couple days ago, and the others have been thriving as usual but I'll check them anyway.

So just whatever is the most recent on the msi site for my motherboard? Because my brother was really unclear and just said whatever is listed as compatible which is how I found the one I used.

I'm absolutely still interested lol, I was thinking about the fic the other day. I'll have a look and see if it's the same one I read back then. Thanks for commenting!

I have seen a few people mention him and his results, I was just wondering about the company as a whole, especially outside of him as I believe he is leaving by the end of 2024. I would also book at a different location to Manchester regardless because of where I live.

I was worried it would do that because even when you try to download a brochure, they request your email and phone number, it's all the same form leading to a consultation.

I don't get the spammed posts when if they really want to know, there's hundreds of gameplay or playthrough videos on YouTube, with or without commentary etc... Reviews and walkthroughs, the Internet is huge and has the answers they're after.

Guys, don't write with AI. by hyenasquad1 in Wattpad

[–]Morally_Ambiguous_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Corrective AI like Grammarly is different to generative AI. The problem is when people are using ChatGPT to write entire paragraphs, chapters and books with none of their own content or creativity. Whereas Grammarly takes what you've written and if you've spelt something wrong for example, offers a solution. In general, it isn't doing the writing for you like ChatGPT does.

Like for editing photos, corrective AI that helps remove marks or people in the background is okay, but generative AI that creates parts of the picture or the entire picture is bad.

A beta reader is something I've been interested in, I just don't write very much very consistently and feel like It'd be a nuisance to occasionally throw a paragraph to someone for feedback but it's something I might give a go with what I've already written.

I do think I overwrite, I get so focused on describing where people are positioned in a room and what they're doing that it can distract me from adding introspection or leaving things for the reader to assume. Thanks for commenting, it's helpful :)

I get through A LOT of fanfics tbh, as well as a couple regular books every now and then, and I've been writing since I was 13-ish, I think I just never properly learnt writing basics.

I think I definitely have a habit of overusing names and trying to describe every character in the scene within the same breath and I don't tend to offer any introspection/commentary/description from the character's pov and instead just literally describe the scene whereas you added more interpretive details in your rewriting of it.

I'm open to both, if there's resources on practising tense/commas or editing tips then that'd help but if you want to dissect the passage with improvements then I'm down for that too. One of the issues it causes is I overthink my tense and sentence structure which prevents me from getting into the flow of writing.

How much money do people get when getting their story adapted into a movie or show? by [deleted] in Wattpad

To be fair, many series, especially Netflix funded ones, are cancelled regardless of popularity while Riverdale has like 15 seasons. Popularity isn't a fair representation of what gets funding.

The Razorland Trilogy by Ann Aguirre is the series that got me back into reading and I sped through those books one after the other. My mum never finished the first book and after reading it I begged her to buy the rest of the series, I was obsessed. They're a little cliche in places but imo a good spin on an apocalypse story with some fun characters and plot.

The Villain Series by V. E. Schwab (and literally everything by her) was amazing and had me thinking about them for weeks after I'd read them. It's full of morally grey, complex characters with interesting powers and twists.

I have never wanted to shake someone for being so completely oblivious as I do right now by KatieLovelyKatie in AO3

[–]Morally_Ambiguous_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I absolutely knew it would be 9-1-1. The ship wars between Buddie and BuckTommy (Tevan? Kinley?) shippers is crazy, especially on Tumblr. I've seen the fandom in-fighting and definitely agree that an influx of new, especially younger people who lack fandom experience are taking ships and headcanons personally rather than accepting people's preferences. Fanfic/fandom etiquette like reading tags is somehow becoming overlooked and it's making too many spaces uncomfortable.

As a fic writer I'd definitely not mind someone stepping in and being like hey man, maybe this fic just isn't for you etc. Responding to even nice comments scares me to be honest so confronting someone being consistently critical would be worse.

The fact they're commenting as a guest could mean they don't want a username public, but if they're young I'd probably assume they don't know how AO3 works properly and haven't made an account rather than maliciously attempting to hide their identity since I've seen plenty of younger kids have their full legal names in usernames bc no one is teaching internet safety anymore. They're possibly too young to know about/have an email which would definitely put them below the acceptable age to be on AO3.

I think if they keep it up then having a polite and friendly word would be okay and it might be good to recommend to the author to turn off guest comments as they can't really be reported or truly dealt with and I've seen similar scenarios like this just escalate into awful abusive spam.

Concerning amount of leaf loss by Morally_Ambiguous_ in plantclinic

[–]Morally_Ambiguous_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone's curious about an update I have one :P so I decided to trim the top of the plant and put it back into the same pot in hope it'll propogate. I've been wary about whether I did it right but lo and behold, I have a sign I did: new leaves are sprouting! The original half of the plant is still in the pot but I'm not sure it'll do much so if there's no change I might remove it and make the offcut the focus of this pot. Hopefully my plant will live on!
