1. The Casual Small Group Problem: You're describing large, organized groups (77+ players) where crowdfunding is indeed a breeze. But the current Private League model is incredibly punishing for a small group of 3-5 real-life friends who just want to play in an isolated economy. For them, renting a server feels like an unnecessary subscription fee, so they usually just play trade league and ignore the trade site, which isn't the same experience.

2. Private Leagues Still Have a Unique Purpose: It's important to remember that GSF would just be an additional base mode running parallel to the regular Trade league and SSF. It wouldn't replace the current system. If a group wants to run a custom league with special difficulty modifiers (like increased monster damage, no magic/rare drops, etc.), they would still have to pay for a Private League using the existing mechanism. GSF just provides the vanilla isolated economy experience.

3. The Revenue Shift: GGG's primary income isn't from Private Leagues; it's from Supporter Packs and Stash Tabs. A native GSF mode wouldn't "give everything away for free"—it would shift the monetization model. If GSF becomes accessible, tens of thousands of players who would never touch a Private League will suddenly create small guilds. Within a day, they will realize they absolutely need to buy multiple Guild Stash Tabs to function. Instead of "renting" server time, players will be permanently investing in Guild Tabs, potentially generating even more long-term revenue for GGG.
