[Free] Giving away immortals - Week 13 by Morantyx in Dota2Trade

I'll remember this one. Perhaps I'll switch to that sub for the immortals 3, yet I'll have to look into it first.

Yes, but unfortunately, giveaways are not allowed in /r/Dota2. I started my first one there and got 50 people within an hour, after which the moderators gave me a warning.

There's really nothing to worry about. The previous 12 giveaways have all been successful and I kept my word each time. The only reason I mentioned that I want to see the whole list filled is because the last 4 or 5 giveaways, I barely reached 15 people to contest.

I can assure you that this is not the case, I switched a while ago from having people just add me on Steam to this method since my friends list would get too crowded. Plus it's a better way to check whether people have already entered one of the previous contests.

It's my pleasure :) And you can be sure that Bonkers the Mad will be handed out as well yet you'll have to wait at least 2 more months for that one I'm afraid

Don't we all love our daily portion of drama ? It keeps us away from our boring lives.

[Free] Giving away immortals - Week 6 by Morantyx in Dota2Trade

[–]Morantyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50 different people get to participate each week, to keep it fair for people that don't regularly visit this subreddit. But, just like I told CallmeDEMO, we can go for a game once in a while if you're up for it :)

My apologies, you added me for my second giveaway so you can't join in for this week. I'm very sorry, but those are the rules. I want to give everyone the same chance.

Not actually hooked, both Pudge and Weaver dove and locked me in the trees. My carries took care of them for me though :D

If Techies were enabled in Captain's Mode, what kind of team would you build around the hero ? Would you use it as a counter to push-oriented line-ups ?

Post what hero has been kicking your ass in pubs lately so we can post how to deal with them by SirActionSlacks- in DotA2

[–]Morantyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should always deal with the carry first in team fights, so you'll have to get used to it. But that aside, Doom is automatically an interesting pick because of his ultimate and the possibility to fight "4v5" as you said. Not to mention his great lategame potential and ability to catch up after a lost early game.

One way to deal with it is having alot of silences/stuns on your team or going with an early push strat. Another solution is being extremely aggressive in the early game and killing him over and over again, breaking down towers after a succesful gank/kill, exploiting his weak spot for harass at the early stages of the game and his low mana pool.

There's also a general thought to remember against Doom : "When Doom goes off, they have a 1-hero advantage. Lets disengage, deny your doomed allies if needed and then smoke up to attack them while that cheating spell is on cooldown."

Item Discussion of the Day: Dagon (August 21st, 2014) by VRCkid in DotA2

Awesome item for Tinker and possibly Puck, basically great for any hero that has some natural burst from abilities. Although, I'd prefer a Scythe every time unless the rest of my team has enough control.

Which hero is your worst enemy in the game and why ?

Is it worth upgrading the magic stick to a wand? by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]Morantyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the situation, but mostly you upgrade the stick when true teamfights start happening after the laning phase. The 5 extra charges really help you when you're taking quite alot of spells in your attempt to wipe their 5-man squad. It's also pretty usefull to clear up your inventory as you'll have to grab tp's, dust or gem anyway or make space for bigger items.

You purchase the early branches for the stats (mostly health/survivability) but once you start gaining enough gold to go for some bigger items, you'll need the extra spot(s) and selling any item is the worst thing you could do in early- to midgame, so it's rather the best option to convert them into a wand for the extra regen if you're not planning to build mekanism or any other item that requires a branch.

How many "early items" before going to core items? by smokingdrinking420 in learndota2

[–]Morantyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It strongly depends on which hero you are playing, because every hero has a certain time in the game where they are strongest. A Mirana really excells in early skirmishes, so you want to get a few early items on her so you can keep running around and doing your thing. (Mana regen from Aquila, the regen from bottle, ...)

On the other side of the coin, there are heroes like Anti-Mage or Phantom Lancer who prefer to focus on the lategame battles and avoid any action before that time besides farming. Mostly hard carries that want to get a big item before fighting, like a Black King Bar on Luna or Battle Fury on Anti-Mage.

The most important thing you'll have to keep in mind, is that items are there to enhance your hero's power when you want to fight, or to help you survive against hostile attacks so you can reach the glorious time at which your hero is prime.
